Little Free Libraries being made in Exeter Devon.

Well… this is a first. 😡

Just days after launching my new “Note to the Next Reader” notepads, I discovered that my design had been copied and posted by another account.

This isn’t simply someone having a similar idea. The wording, prompts, icons and layout have all been recreated—and they have even left LITTLE LIBRARY BUILDER and my tagline at the bottom.

I’m a very small business. I developed this product, paid to have it professionally printed and took the risk of ordering the first batch myself. Seeing somebody reproduce it almost immediately is incredibly upsetting and honestly quite infuriating.

I’ve contacted the account and asked for the post and design to be removed. Please don’t contact or target them—I’m sharing this because it is part of the reality of trying to build something of your own, and because the difference between being inspired by another small business and copying its work matters.

On the plus side, I suppose nobody copies a bad idea… 🙃

🐝 A little progress update on the Manchester Little Library! 🪚🏠

All of the angled and bevelled cuts are now complete, and the front opening and two doors have been cut out.

Today’s jobs are routing the doors ready for the plexiglass and priming every panel before assembly.

Still plenty to do, but it’s coming together nicely! 💙

Well, this has absolutely made my day 🥹💙

It’s always a little nerve-racking sending a Little Library you’ve built by hand off to its new home and hoping the customer loves it as much in real life as they did in the photographs. So receiving this lovely review genuinely meant such a lot.

Every library I make is individually built with a huge amount of care, so hearing that it was exactly what my customer wanted is the best feedback I could ask for.

I’m delighted to have received another commission—and this one will be travelling quite a long way from my little workshop in Exeter!

I’ll be sharing its transformation from a couple sheets of wood to a finished Little Library over the next few weeks. 🔨📚

From a pile of plywood to a finished Little Free Library! 📚🏡

This library has now made the journey from Exeter to Wales and has been delivered safely to its new home.

It’s lovely seeing the whole transformation—from cutting and assembling each piece to painting, roofing and adding all the finishing touches. Every part was built by hand, and I’m so pleased with how it turned out.

Thank you to its new owner for trusting me to create it. I can’t wait to see it installed and filled with books! 💙

✨Finished & ready for its journey to Wales🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

This made-to-order Little Library is now complete — built from scratch, painted in a fresh white finish and topped with composite roof tiles to help it withstand the British weather.

Inside, there are two roomy shelves ready to be filled with books and shared with its new community. I’m so pleased with how clean and bright it looks when it’s fully stocked! 📚

It feels incredibly special knowing that something I built here in Exeter will soon be encouraging people to share books somewhere completely new.

Nearly there! 🏡📚

The composite roof tiles went on today and I’m so pleased with how they look. Just the front tile edge to finish, the door to hang and a few final touches… then this little library will be ready for its journey to Wales! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

It’s always exciting when all the separate pieces finally start looking like a finished library. I can’t wait to show you the completed build very soon! 💛

🏠 We have a roof!

Today’s progress on the latest Little Free Library:

🔨 The roof is fitted
🪟 The plexiglass has been carefully siliconed into the door
🎨 And the whole build is starting to look like a proper little library!

The door is currently drying safely to one side, but once it’s fitted, the transformation will really begin. Next up: finishing the roof, more painting and all those little details that bring it to life.

Another bit of progress on the latest Little Library today 🔨📚

The shelf is now hung and the front panel is in — and it’s really starting to look like a library!

It’s the little bits you won’t necessarily notice on the finished build that take the time. All the screws have been countersunk and filled, and the joins carefully sealed as part of the weatherproofing process. Once everything is sanded and has two coats of exterior paint, you dont see most of this work — but it’s these little details that help a library stand up to the British weather. ☔️

Next up… the roof!
