Year 6 pupils have been superstars today. Their first day was a real success where they showed they were ready, respectful and responsible. Miss Williams was so proud of you all. Well done. We are looking forward to welcoming our year 7 and 8 pupils back tomorrow.

We hope all our families, pupils and staff are enjoying the last week of the holidays.

This is a good time to revisit daily routines and decide on healthy and positive habits for the year ahead. Children develop and we need to ensure we are using the latest research to ensure our family habits suit the developmental age and family requirements for each member. There are many sources of information and support. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/communicating-with-parents-about-school-attendance/the-back-to-school-reset-guide-accessible-version,

As we are in the fourth week of our summer holidays, and experiencing a further heat wave, it is a good time to read as a way to keep cool and to develop good routines during the last two weeks before school begins for the 2026 into 2027 academic year. We have risen to fifth place nationally in the challenge 2026 and have a whopping 9,659 points! Well done to Daisy L who is scoring amazing reading points.

I wonder if we can close the gap with the first place school who have 13, 259 points? How about reading about our solar system and the science behind radio waves? How about visiting a site (in person or via websites) that develops our understanding of space and physics and reading the displays?

We hope you are keeping safe and looking forward to the solar eclipse todayhttps://ras.ac.uk/sites/default/files/2018-06/SEP.BookletGeneral.v2.MEDres.pdf and the Perseid meteor shower https://www.rmg.co.uk/stories/space-astronomy/perseid-meteor-shower-guide-uk-when-where-to-see. Follow the advice.

If you take pictures of you reading or the amazing events happening around us, we would love to see them. Send them to: [email protected].
