Picture 1 is the pool today after a full day of swimmers, picture 2 is how it should look! *If* we can’t see the bottom of the pool clearly, it’s not safe because our lifeguard can’t see swimmers properly. If it’s not safe - we close until it is.

It’s *vital* that swimmers apply sunscreen at least 30 minutes before swimming, preferably 60 minutes.

And equally important that you have a decent shower to rinse off the excess.

Even our brilliant pool filters can’t cope with constant sunscreen, and we REALLY don’t want to have to close sessions. Imagine queuing outside for your session in the hot sun, and being told we’ve had to close 😞

*IMPORTANT NOTICE*

Warm Weather Reminder – Sunscreen Use at the Pool

With the hot weather expected this week, please remember that sunscreen must be applied *at least* 30 minutes before entering the pool. All swimmers must shower before entering the pool.

Sunscreen oils can affect water quality and the pool filters, which may lead to the pool becoming cloudy. If we can’t clearly see the bottom of the pool, we have to close for safety while the water recovers, which can take several hours.

Applying sunscreen in advance also ensures it is properly absorbed and effective.

Pool staff will refuse entry to the pool to anyone who is observed applying sunscreen poolside, until it’s been absorbed (30 mins+) and the excess has been showered off.

Thank you for helping us keep swimmers protected and maintaining high pool water standards.

Our last week of the season 😮 it’s been an amazing year! We have put on lots of lane swims, and retired folk swims, pop down for a final swim before we close for the year, the pool is lovely and warm!

We have a full box of lost property at the pool already! If you spot something that’s yours, please let us know and come and collect it asap. We can only keep items for a week or so as we have so much.

Due to the beautiful weather, demand for outdoor swimming is currently exceptionally high, and we are fully booked all weekend. Please don’t call the pool asking if we have availability, all available sessions will be shown on our website. If you can’t see a session, it’s fully booked.

Maintaining water quality is challenging in hot temperatures. We ask all swimmers to shower before entering the pool, and to apply sunscreen 30-60 minutes before their session time. This gives it time to absorb, and the shower before swimming washes away any unabsorbed sunscreen. Last year we had occasions where we had to close the pool due to poor visibility in the water (because of sunscreen), so it’s vital that our customers follow these rules.
