Aldenham SEND Pavilion & Playground

Aldenham SEND Pavilion & Playground An indoor and outdoor multi-sensory play and education centre for children and young people with special needs and disability with some integrated play.

Aldenham SEND Family Pavilion and Playground is a purpose built indoor and outdoor play centre for families with children and young adults with special needs to meet, share and enjoy a range of experiences in a supportive and safe environment. Friends, family and visitors with a commitment, empathy and understanding for all who attend to be able to have a relaxed, enjoyable and safe experience are

welcome. There are soft play areas and sensory rooms to relax and play in, a reading corner, musical instruments and a range of resources for allowing expression and play. There is a Sensi-floor room and a main room where activities take place. The adventure playground has free-play and sensory play pieces. Around the hobbit tunnel is surrounded by many play equipment to explore including a basket swing, musical chimes, sandy Robinia Timber playpoints, a treehouse slide, zip wire and more. Often parents and carers tell us that the wild rabbits come right up to them and there is lots more wildlife to spot as the playground was built in natural woodland. OPEN EVERYDAY 9-11am

Find us in the park:

If you have travelled by car, park in the main Park car park area. The Playground is situated in between our Woodland Adventures and Pony Rides attractions. You can see the green gates, just walk through these and up to the main blue building entrance. We look forward to welcoming you! Public Transport:

News from Rural Care

We talk a lot about the things we do to care for our animals, but the animals on the farm do lots of things to care for us too! Sometimes they are a calming presence and help us to slow down, relax, and enjoy the moment that we are in. Sometimes, they are energetic and playful. They might make us laugh or show us affectionate behaviours like nestling into us for a hug, or pushing their head towards us for more scratches! Our animals love us, and we love them, and we are so lucky to have the opportunity to care for each other!

Rural Care is a day service at Aldenham Country Park that supports individuals with additional needs to learn new skills and make new friends in a safe and caring environment supported by qualified and experienced staff.

What is a typical day at Rural Care like?

At Rural Care we work all year round, and as the seasons change, so do our jobs. A winter day is typically more animal centred, as the pens can become wet and muddy quickly and need mucking out more regularly. There are also fewer jobs on the allotment so we can dedicate more time to the animals. A summer day might be more maintenance based, mowing the grass, cutting back hedges, watering the plants or painting sheds!

We run three sessions each day. A typical day might start on the allotment, planting bulbs and pruning bushes followed by a visit to the chickens to collect their eggs, give them fresh bedding and top up their food and water. After lunch we might finish the day by painting products we have made in our woodwork sessions to sell in the shop.

There is so much to do at Rural Care. Every day is structured and follows a routine, but there is always plenty of variety, lots of choices and many exciting opportunities.

What is Rural Care?

Rural Care is a service based at Aldenham Country Park that offers person-centred day opportunities and work-related experiences on the farm for people with learning disabilities and additional needs in a nurturing and supportive environment. Co-Farmers are supported to work on a diverse range of purposeful activities, that not only assist the farm, but encourage us to stay active, work on our skills and develop and maintain independence. Our activities range from caring for animals and tending to the allotment to maintenance and woodworking so there is always plenty to do! We aim to create an environment where everyone is able to develop social skills, form friendships, and build confidence whilst having lots of fun!

Please contact Annie at [email protected] for further information and to learn more about Rural Care – a place where care for land and people meet.
