🎵 On Sunday, Aberdeen City Music School's varied concert experiences were held at Haddo House.

🎻 They attracted nearly 500 visitors to see 14 concerts with 27 musicians in 7 locations across 8 hours of performances.

We'd like to give a big thank you to all the young students and their team who made the day a very special one!

Last week we were pleased to welcome pupils from Bridge of Don Academy on one of our Undercover Tours!

🔎 Following the puzzle trail around the house, they successfully worked together to find the missing painting at its end.

The National Trust for Scotland Gardens at Haddo House NTS. In the 1730s the 2nd Earl of Aberdeen raised the terrace to the east of the house and planted an avenue of lime trees, which remain today. A fountain on the terrace was installed around 1836, followed by the creation of the stone-kerbed flower beds.

The present fountain dates from 1899, when it was commissioned by Lord and Lady Aberdeen to replace the earlier one. It was made specially for Haddo although its design was inspired by common classical design forms which were popular at the time.

The view from the terrace garden across Haddo Country Park are glorious. You can admire many commemorative trees, including two enormous wellingtonias planted by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1857. By the mid 19th century, Lord Aberdeen had begun to plant the policies with millions of trees, as well as making ornamental lakes and setting out various drives and walks.

🌵 Further to our pictures of the colourful blooms in the grounds this afternoon, this Epiphyllum succulent cactus in the Courtyard Café is also in flower.

The bloom usually only lasts a few days, so come along this weekend to see it!

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗼𝗻𝘀: 𝗔 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘀

Young musicians from Aberdeen City Music School will stage a musical take-over of Haddo across seven locations on Sunday 7th June, 11am–4pm.

Come and hear solos, duets, trios and quartets playing pipes & drums to jazz piano, guitar, trumpet, harp, flute, vocals, accordion, saxophone & more....

There will be two recital locations inside the House with other performance spaces across the site.

(Usual charges apply for entry to the house – NTS members free).

🪈 In association with Haddo Arts, Haddo House hosted the first of this year's season of mini Courtyard Concerts on Sunday 3rd May when over 100 people enjoyed the superb talents and tunes of 13-year-old Harper Cheyne & her brother Matthew, aged 9.

Courtyard Concerts are held the first Sunday of the month, free to attend. Simply grab a coffee & cake and sit back and enjoy, 2.30pm - 3.15pm.

♫ The next one is Sun 7th June, when not only do we have music in the Courtyard, but all over Haddo when The Aberdeen City Music School will stage a musical takeover!

Twenty-six very talented young musicians will be playing in 7 locations, indoors and out, through the day. From pipes & drums to jazz piano, as well as guitar, trumpet, harp, flute, vocals, accordion, saxophone & more... 11am - 4pm. A rare treat not to be missed.
