As my year as Mayor of Ellesmere Port comes to an end, I can honestly say — it’s been the greatest honour of my life to serve the town I was born and bred in.
This place is special. Built on incredible people, proud communities, and a spirit you won’t find anywhere else.

At the heart of this year has been you — the residents, the volunteers, the families, and the community groups who make Ellesmere Port what it is. Everywhere I’ve gone, I’ve seen kindness, resilience, and real community spirit. You’ve inspired me more than you know.

This year has stretched me. It’s challenged me. And it’s changed me.

Thank you for trusting me.
Thank you for supporting me.
And thank you for giving me the honour of serving as your Mayor.

To my charities — Blades Down / Gloves Not Gangs, West Cheshire Foodbank and Men in Sheds — thank you for everything you do. It’s been a privilege to stand alongside you and support, even in a small way, the incredible work you do for our community.

And to my amazing Mayor’s Cadets, Ella and James — you’ve been outstanding. A real credit to Ellesmere Port.

As I hand over the chain of office, I do so with a full heart and immense pride — proud of our town, proud of our people, proud to have served.

Whatever comes next, one thing won’t change: I will always stand up and speak out for Ellesmere Port.
Because this isn’t just where I’m from — this is home. ❤️

I was delighted to officially launch Ellesmere Port Football Memories this weekend at the Boat Museum ⚽📖

It was a lovely Bank Holiday weekend to celebrate 140 years of football in Ellesmere Port—a proud legacy of talent, passion, and achievement across generations.

It was a particular honour to welcome Ian Bowyer, a true football legend, whose journey began right here in Ellesmere Port. Born in Little Sutton, Ian went on to achieve incredible success at the very highest level of the game, yet his roots remain firmly in our town—something we are all incredibly proud of.

A very special thank you to Celia Webber for writing this book. Through her work with the Ellesmere Port Local & Family History Society, she has already created a remarkable collection of memory books for our town, and this latest publication is no exception. Her dedication, determination and passion have brought together over a century of football history—preserving our community’s stories and inspiring future generations. It is a true labour of love ❤️

This event was made even more meaningful for me as it was my final formal engagement as Mayor—a wonderful way to round off such an incredible year in our incredible town.

Thank you to everyone who came along to support such a special occasion ✨️

What a fantastic day at the Little Sutton Royal British Legion Family Fun Day, made even better by the glorious sunshine! ☀️🎉

It was wonderful to see families, friends and neighbours enjoying the day and celebrating the strong community spirit we’re so proud of here in Ellesmere Port.

Thank you to the Royal British Legion for the incredible work you do supporting our veterans, serving personnel and their families. Your dedication makes a real difference.

A special thank you as well to veteran Freddie Wing for all his continued support, commitment, and fundraising efforts —you represent everything the Legion stands for.

Thank you to everyone who came along, supported the stalls, and contributed to fundraising efforts, including the roof fund. Days like this show just how powerful our community is when we come together.

I was delighted to officially open the event, and I hope everyone had a wonderful time!
👏💙

✨ Thank You from the Mayor’s Community Charity Ball ✨

Earlier this month, the Mayor proudly hosted her Community Charity Ball – and what a truly wonderful evening it was!

It was fantastic to see so many incredible community groups and charities come together for such a fun packed night. The atmosphere was made even more special with live music from local band 'The Refiners' alongside delicious food provided by 'We Don’t Fudge About'.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported the event – from the organisers and volunteers to all who attended and contributed. Your support, generosity, and community spirit made the evening such a great success.

Together, we are making a difference ❤️

It was a real pleasure to attend The Climbing Hut last weekend for Goat Fest 2026 – and what an incredible event it was! 🧗
The venue was absolutely buzzing, filled with so many talented climbers, including some as young as just 7 years old. Their strength, determination and confidence were truly inspiring to watch.
I also learnt just how much skill, focus and resilience climbing demands – it really is an impressive sport.

A huge shoutout to everyone who organised such a fantastic, well-attended event. The Climbing Hut really is a gem in our town – we’re so lucky to have it.

Massive congratulations to the Cheshire Phoenix on a fantastic win on Sunday night 🏀

Securing a place in the finals and heading to the O2 Arena next weekend is a brilliant achievement — best of luck for the big game! 🏀

The atmosphere at the match was incredible, and I thoroughly enjoyed being part of it. It truly rekindled my love of the game I grew up with.

Proud moment for our town and for Cheshire👏

✨️Last week I had the honour of attending Sleeping Beauty, presented by The Drama Llamas, in my role as Mayor of Ellesmere Port—and it was truly incredible.

I was absolutely blown away by how good it was. Everyone involved put so much effort into creating such an unforgettable performance, and it really showed. I didn’t want it to end! The room was filled with so much laughter—it was superb and definitely a highlight of my year as Mayor.

The Drama Llamas are an inspiring group of adults from the Healthy Living Centre in Ellesmere Port. With a range of learning disabilities, they’ve come together to write and produce shows for our local community—and what a show they delivered!

I even stayed for the afterparty and would like to say a huge thank you to MA&D Events, who stepped in at the very last minute to DJ. Your support was truly appreciated and helped round off a perfect evening.

This is what real Pride in the Port looks like ❤️

With the sun shining 🌞, it was wonderful to see so many people come together to celebrate this long awaited milestone.

This new headquarters is far more than bricks and mortar. It will be a place where young people learn new skills, grow in confidence, build friendships, and develop the values of teamwork, service and leadership that stay with them for life. It also strengthens the vital link between Scouting and the wider community it proudly serves.

Scouting in Great Sutton has a proud history, beginning in 1945 and formally established in 1959. From the old village hall to this fantastic new home at the Great Sutton Wellness Village, the journey has been shaped by dedicated volunteers and leaders — many of them home grown — whose commitment has made a lasting difference.

With modern facilities, a long held dream has become reality. Thank you to everyone who made this possible. Here’s to many more years of fun filled experiences and unforgettable adventures for future generations 🌱⚜️

It is with great sadness to hear of the passing of young Kanan-Jay, just six years old. This heartbreaking loss has touched the hearts of our entire community. As we come to terms with such a devastating event, it is essential that we unite to support Kanan-Jay's family, wrapping our arms around them as a community during this incredibly difficult time.

I invite each of you to join together in remembrance and support. Our community is already mobilising in various ways to help the family through this painful journey. Please consider participating in the many upcoming events I've seen advertised. All proceeds will go directly to support them, ensuring they feel the love and strength of our community.

Please post details of the community events below this message. Together, we can show our compassion and solidarity.

With deepest sympathy,

Katie
