Loneliness can affect anyone, but for many older adults, it can become a daily reality.

This Loneliness Awareness Week, we're encouraging everyone to take a moment to connect. A phone call, a visit, a shared cup of tea, or simply taking time to listen can make a meaningful difference.

At Home Instead, we believe companionship is just as important as practical support. Through meaningful conversations, shared activities, and trusted relationships, we're helping older adults stay connected to the people and communities around them.

This week, let's all take a small step towards making someone feel seen, heard, and valued. 💚

Frailty can be a daunting issue when caring for an older loved one, especially when falls become a concern.

Falls are one of the biggest risks linked to frailty and can lead to serious injury, loss of confidence, and reduced independence.

The good news is that many falls can be prevented with simple steps at home:

- Keep active to improve strength and balance
- Keep the home safe by removing trip hazards and improving lighting
- Keep well by staying on top of health checks and reviewing medications
- Keep nourished with a balanced diet and plenty of fluids

If you’re concerned about a loved one’s mobility or wellbeing, speaking to your GP is a good first step. And if you need extra support at home, Home Instead Edinburgh East is always here for a friendly chat. You can visit homeinstead.co.uk/edinburgh or call us on 0131 300 0599 💚

This Carers Week, we're taking time to recognise the incredible family carers who provide unwavering love, support, and care to those closest to them.💚

At Home Instead, we believe carers deserve support too. That's why we're proud to celebrate the vital role they play and help families access the guidance, respite, and care they need.

If you're supporting a loved one and would like advice or a helping hand, we're here to listen.

If you are caring for a loved one and finding it physically and emotionally overwhelming, you are not alone.

Our New Ageing Index shows that 77% of carers wish they had more help. That feeling of trying to juggle everything is something so many families are facing.

This , we want family carers to know that support is out there.

At Home Instead, we’re here to help you take a breather and feel more supported.

Following the success of our first Care Conversations event, Your GP and Home Instead are delighted to invite you to our next sessions, focusing on Brain Health. Taking place on Sunday June 28th and Thursday July 2nd, these events will explore an issue that affects many of us, whether personally or through caring for a loved one.

At YourGP and Home Instead we understand that concerns about brain health can feel overwhelming, particularly as we age. Whether you're experiencing concerns yourself, caring for a loved one, or simply looking to learn more, it's important to know that support is available.

Join us for an informative discussion with YourGP’s Medical Director, Dr Cathrow and Andrew Senew, Director of Home Instead Edinburgh, where we'll explore brain health, answer your questions, and provide practical advice and guidance.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to book a complimentary 20-minute initial consultation with YourGP to discuss any aspect of brain health with one of their experts.

Light refreshments and fizz will be provided, alongside plenty of opportunities to listen, share experiences, and ask questions.
