Wow, another ‘Very Good’ from the Care Inspectorate!

This time for our wonderful teams in Stirling, Falkirk and Clackmannanshire. The staff were praised for being ‘committed’ and for promoting ‘enjoyment and fun’.

A person supported by Carr Gomm told the Care Inspectorate: "I am very well supported and treated with dignity and respect. The team always find ways to make me happy, always putting lots of effort into my support. I really loved my holiday this year. It was so nice to get away. Recently I have been unwell, and the team have worked really hard adjusting my support for me.”

Well done, team, for your passion and dedication in your work.

A huge congratulations to Ina and Rita, two of our brilliant Support Practitioners working in Highland, who have achieved their SVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care.👏

Both Ina and Rita spoke about never thinking this was something they would achieve. Through hard work and commitment they’ve both proved to themselves just what they’re capable of.

It’s been amazing to see their confidence grow throughout the journey, and we’re so proud of everything they’ve achieved.

Please join us in congratulating Ina and Rita. 💜

By now, many of you will know Katherine from the Royal Burgh of Tain. 👑

Katherine took up painting at 102 years old, starting with paint-by-numbers and finding a real love for it, especially painting flowers.

The home Katherine grew up in has always been special to her. Although she hadn’t been there in a long time, she still knew exactly where it was.

When Katherine’s birthday was coming up, her support team had the idea of getting a custom paint-by-numbers created for her. When thinking about what would mean the most to Katherine, her childhood home came to mind.

It turned into a bit of a mission to track the house down and get some photos for the painting, but the team got there in the end!

Katherine has now painted it in herself and we think it’s just lovely. ☺️

Well done to our Carr Gomm Responder and Care at Home Teams, who were rated ‘very good’ by the Care Inspectorate.

The Responder Teams were commended for providing the ‘right help immediately, reducing anxiety, and ensuring people felt safe in their own homes’. A family praised their relative’s Care at Home team for being "fantastic", adding that they "couldn't have managed without them."

Our services in Argyll & Bute support people so that they can live well and thrive in their home.

1 in 10 people in Scotland are unpaid carers. ♥️
Chances are, you already know someone doing this every day.

That’s around 800,000 people showing up for someone they love every single day (Carers UK).

Our Home-Based Respite teams across the Highlands are here to support carers by providing short breaks, while continuing person-centred support at home for the people they care for.

It’s all about making sure no one is doing it all alone 🤝

Congratulations to all the MSPs who now have the privilege of representing communities here in Scotland. As the work begins we encourage every parliamentarian to consider: what society do we want to be and how can we work together to achieve it?

This is critically important for social care, which is at the heart of creating a just society that enables all of us to do the things we want to in life and to thrive.

A society where everyone who needs it has the right to good quality social care, when it’s needed. A society where investing across the social care workforce will show workers and people they support that they are valued; whilst creating jobs, supporting families, and strengthening our economy.

That vision requires time and genuine partnership with people who have support in their lives, and those who provide support in our communities. We are the experts.

This vision of a just society is possible and it is imperative that we begin working towards this now. We urge this Scottish Parliament to partner with us now to get there.
