A dram of whisky. A piece of Scotland’s history. A contribution to Scotland’s future. In 1296, Edward I removed the Stone of Destiny from Scotland. It finally returned home in 1996, 700 years later.

To mark that historic return, a limited edition Speyside Single Malt was bottled. Only 2,500 bottles of The Dram of Destiny were produced. Edinburgh North Western SNP is now auctioning one of those rare bottles, signed by the First Minister John Swinney.

The bottle was donated by Mike Morris in memory of Walter Quigley Bruce, who lived in the belief that Scotland would once again become an independent nation.

Our online auction will raise funds for the 2027 City of Edinburgh Council election campaign. To take part, simply comment on this post with your bid. The auction will continue and close during our whisky tasting on Friday 25th of September, where the final bids will be taken and the winner will be announced.

Please bid generously. This bottle carries a story of Scotland’s past, but the money it raises will help us campaign for Scotland’s future.
All proceeds will support Edinburgh North Western SNP 2027 upcoming local government elections .

Today as a branch we attended the Corstorphine Community Fair and it was a real success.
We spent the day speaking to local people and asked people a simple question: what would you like to see improved in our area?
The response was fantastic. Our board quickly filled with ideas, suggestions and priorities for the community.
As we start looking ahead to the 2027 local council elections, we want to make sure local people’s voices help shape our priorities. That starts with listening.
A big thank you to everyone who stopped by for a chat, shared their views or took part. We look forward to continuing the conversation in the months ahead.
And a super bonus was that the amazing councillor from a neighbouring constituency Cllr Martha Mattos Coelho - SNP Liberton / Gilmerton stopped by.

Thank you, Lyn Jardine SNP, for standing for our Edinburgh North Western branch and giving this campaign everything you had. It’s been a real privilege to work alongside you and get to know you through all the chaos, long days and campaign madness.
