This week, the Band has been busy focusing on professional development and musical training! 🎼

Three of our aspiring future Bandmasters had the opportunity to join our Bandmaster and Director of Music for an intensive series of conducting workshops with Michael Bawtree (RCS Lecturer and Professional Orchestral Conductor).

Take a look at how they pushed their limits, refined their techniques, and developed their conducting skills—transitioning from leading a single piano to commanding a full symphonic wind band! 🎺🥁

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Inverclyde Freedom Parade 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

On 5 September, the Band of The Royal Regiment of Scotland will be in Inverclyde to support The Royal Regiment of Scotland as they exercise their Freedom of Inverclyde.

We’ll be providing musical support throughout the parade as the Regiment takes to the streets in a celebration of its strong links with the local community.

Adventure beyond the practice room 🏔️🚵‍♂️

Last week, Band SCOTS took on some of Scotland’s best terrain as part of Adventurous Training — from climbing Ben Nevis and exploring Dùn Deardil Fort in Glen Nevis, to hitting the trails on mountain bikes at Nevis Range Mountain Resort.

On Wednesday, members of the Band climbed Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest peak. We were raising money for charity. The climb took over 8 hours and the poor weather really challenged our team. However, they took everything in their stride and made it to the summit. 🥾🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🌧️

State Opening of Parliament, Isle of Man 🇮🇲

In July, Musn Mears supported The Highland and Lowland Bands of the Royal Regiment of Scotland during the Tynwald Day Ceremony on the Isle of Man. The parade included National Anthems and statics to entertain the crowds. In the evening, they also performed a Beating Retreat for the High Commissioner. 🥁

We have a close working relationship with our local reserve bands that bridges the gap between regular and reserve service🎖️
