On Tuesday, SAS and partners were in the Commonwealth Games Family Hotel teaching vital life saving CPR and AED skills to members of the Athletes Commission, Games Family, and Anti-Doping and Medical Commission.

Attendees were from all over the world including Uganda, Canada, USA, Singapore, Grenada, New Zealand, British Virgin Islands, Australia, and England.

Kyle Burns, Technician, said: "It's been a great experience getting to share this lifesaving skill with various nations in the commonwealth. Learning how to do CPR is quick and being able to it can make a huge difference to someone's life."

Did you know that SAS have a vaccination team?

The team travels across the country to support your local health board administer vaccinations through our Mobile Vaccination Units.

They are trained to administer any vaccination and in the last financial year (2025-2026), they administered over 24,500 vaccinations.
That’s over 2,000 per month!

The Scottish Ambulance Service joined NHS Highland during a visit by Caroline Lamb, Director-General Health and Social Care and Chief Executive of NHS Scotland, to highlight the strong partnership between NHS Highland’s Mental Health Assessment Unit (MHAU) and the SAS Mental Health Paramedic Response Unit (MHPRU).

Based in Inverness, the MHPRU operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, providing support across the Inner Moray Firth area.

Working in close partnership with the MHAU, the team helps deliver improved outcomes for people experiencing an acute mental health crisis.

More than 70% of patients attended by the team can be safely assessed and supported in their own homes.

The MHPRU also provides professional support and advice to Scottish Ambulance Service crews across the Highland region, helping to ensure high-quality mental health care is accessible, including within some of Scotland’s most rural communities.

There are three Mental Health Paramedic Response Units in Scotland, with the others based in Glasgow and Dundee.

Spreading life saving CPR skills throughout Glasgow and beyond!

SAS have been part of the community outreach during the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow travelling to different locations throughout the City to teach CPR skills and AED awareness.

The team were joined by Chief Medical Officer for Scotland, Professor Sir Gregor Smith, and Niall Elliot, Chief Medical Officer for Glasgow 2026 in a park session this week.
