An emergency responder from Dufftown has raised more than £11,000 for a charity close to her heart after running her first marathon.

Jenny Davidson, Technician, was diagnosed with relapsing remitting MS in 2023 and was offered a place to run the London Marathon as part of a fundraiser for the Grampian Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre.

She said: “I felt this was a great opportunity to run my first marathon and raise funds for a local charity. I have been to the Grampian MS Centre for oxygen therapy, and I am currently on a treatment programme and in remission.

“I was over the moon to finish. I have always watched the marathon on TV, thinking I would like to do it one day, but I never actually thought I would achieve it.”

She raised a total of £11,064.

Two of our emergency responders from Glasgow West have spoken about the physical and verbal abuse they have received while out on the road.

Paramedic Maria was threatened with a knife and told: 'I'm going to kill you'

Technician Chanda has faced racist abuse and repeated threats of violence while trying to care for patients.

Completely unacceptable. Our crews should be able to do their jobs free from harm and abuse.

The Scottish Ambulance Service recorded 369 incidents of physical or verbal assaults against staff in 2024/25 - an 11% rise on the previous year.
