At 43 Scotland keeper Craig Gordon is reportedly the oldest player at the World Cup, or rather... Scotland has the most experienced player in the tournament :)

We're preparing for Scotland's first kick of the ball in a World Cup finals for 28 years by looking at some of the sporting heritage projects supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund in Scotland.

We were lucky enough to be joined by Craig Gordon for the launch of HeartofMidlothianFC's with Hearts Heritage and Big Hearts Community Trust back in 2024

Maroon Mile is a celebration of club and community that created a heritage trail from the Heart of Midlothian War Memorial at Haymarket to the club museum at Tynecastle Stadium.

🎨Work in progress🎨

As the launch of the first Barra Unearthed sites approaches, we're excited to share a sneak peek of the modelling work for the digital reconstruction of Dùn Bharpa chambered cairn.

Using detailed information on dimensions and building materials alongside photographs and other sources gathered by our Project Assistant Kirsty, Peel X modeller Jon has been working hard to create a beautiful reconstruction of the cairn, as it might have looked like around 5000 years ago in the Neolithic period.

This is particularly exciting as there are currently no tombs with accessible, preserved interiors in the Outer Hebrides. Soon, you will be able to walk up to Dùn Bharpa, take in the cairn as it currently stands before scanning the ground with your mobile phone to reveal a stunning interactive reconstruction. Duck down, follow the passageway, and step inside. What will you discover?

We learned a lot from our modelling process for the Uist sites, and we are excited to be applying this here. We can't wait to show you more soon!

With the World Cup about to kick off we're starting our own , to celebrate Scotland's sporting heritage.

It doesn't come more Scottish World Cup heritage than heading home undefeated without getting out of the group stage.

Midfield legend Billy Bremner captained that 1974 campaign.

Thanks to players the Heritage Fund supported "Fae Raploch to Elland Road" a celebration of the early life and career of Billy Bremner, by University of Stirling

Thr project spoke to the people that knew Billy from Raploch and his early footballing friends. Recording their memories in their own voices.

Exploring his lifelong ambition to play for his country and the intense pride and loyalty he had for his hometown Stirling and for Scotland.

We'll put a link to the project's online collection in the comments.
