Another intake of new recruits successfully completed their initial training course last week.

The cohort was made up of 169 Police Scotland and 13 British Transport Police officers, who will now deploy to communities across Scotland in the coming weeks.

The initial training course is 18 weeks long, with officers being trained in:

🔵 Operational safety and first aid
🔵 Legislation and police powers
🔵 Statement taking and report writing
🔵 Communication and de-escalation

Training is delivered at the Scottish Police College, Tulliallan and our non-residential training venue in Jackton.

We provided crime prevention advice on the sale of goods and discussed retail worker safety.

Two women aged 23 and 19 years and a 32-year-old man have been arrested in connection with a crash on the A8 Glasgow Road at Newbridge near Edinburgh.

The incident happened around 9.25am on Monday, 7 September, and involved four vehicles.

The driver of one vehicle, a 58-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Four others were taken to hospital for treatment and released.

Sergeant Mike Thomson said: “Our thoughts remain with the family of the woman who died.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”

Officers have released images of a man they believe can assist with their investigation into an incident that took place around 7.30pm on Saturday, 8 March 2025 at Murrayfield Stadium.

The man is described as around 6ft, of slim build, with grey hair. At the time, he was wearing black glasses, tartan peaked cap and a long dark grey/black jacket.

Constable Ewan Mitchell said: “I would urge the man pictured, or anyone who has information relating to him, to contact police.

“Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1254 of 10 March 2025.”

Police are increasingly concerned about the welfare of Missing Person Michal Oraczewski, aged 33. He was last seen in the Wester Hailes area on 5th of August. He is described as Polish, white, 6ft tall, medium build with medium length dark hair. Detectives in Edinburgh have released images of two men they believe can assist with their investigation after a 24 year-old man was seriously assaulted on Princes Street around 2.35am on Saturday, 1 August, 2026.

The first man is described as white, 5ft 10in and in his late teens to early 20’s. He had blonde hair and was wearing a white t-shirt with grey jeans.

The second man is described as white, 6ft and in his late teens to early 20’s with short dark-coloured hair and glasses. He was wearing a black top with grey shorts and had a tattoo on the back of his left hand.

Detective Constable Gary Lipscombe of Gayfield CID said: “I would urge the men pictured or anyone who recognises them to contact us.

“This area was extremely busy at the time of the incident and I would ask anyone with information to contact Police Scotland through 101, quoting incident number 0473 of 1 August, 2026. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
