This week marks Blood Donor Week (8-14 June) which coincides with the build up to Scotland’s first World Cup match in 28 years.

To capture the moment and inspire action, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service - SNBTS is rolling out the ā€˜Yes Sir I’m a Donor’ campaign throughout the tournament period.

Major football moments can impact donation levels – following Scotland’s World Cup qualification match, blood donation attendance fell by over 20%. And with fewer than 2% of the population currently active donors, there’s an urgent need for more people to step forward.

A special message…

To celebrate the World Cup and inspire more donors to come forward, SNBTS has shared a special message for Scotland. National team captain Andy Robertson has stepped up to back the campaign.

We can all play a part

If you’re able, please consider supporting the campaign in one (or more) of these ways:

āœ… Book an appointment - Give blood, plasma or platelets during the World Cup:šŸ‘‰ www.scotblood.co.uk

āœ… Show your support online - Update your profile picture to the campaign logo (available to download on the Scotblood website https://tinyurl.com/cp6fd8k9 and share the message: ā€œWe’re proud to support Scotland by giving blood. Can you make a date to donate today? Book in online www.scotblood.co.uk – alternatively call 0345 90 90 999 (Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm)ā€

āœ… Boost the campaign - Throughout the week, SNBTS will be sharing content on social media – you can help by reposting.

Even just one of these actions can help raise awareness, spark conversation and ultimately save lives.

Understanding our land: a new national picture of biodiversity across NHS Scotland 🌿

Published today on World Environment Day, new national reports mark an important step forward in how NHS Scotland understands and manages the land it cares for.

For the first time, we have a shared picture across all 14 territorial boards - helping us see where biodiversity already exists, and where there’s real potential to do more.

The scale is significant. The NHS Scotland estate covers an area roughly equivalent to the size of Stirling - over 2,000 football pitches.

This creates a powerful opportunity to better support biodiversity, strengthen climate resilience, and connect our environment with health and wellbeing.

It’s about making more informed decisions for the places we care for - and the communities who rely on them.
