Edgmond Parish Council has unveiled the new Outdoor Gym Experience just in time for the Easter Holidays. With the use of Section 106 funding, and parish council funds, a selection of outdoor gym equipment has been installed near to the Pavilion on Shrewsbury Road Playing Field, with kind permission of TWC.

We hope you will take time to ‘have-a-go’. The pieces selected were chosen following public consultation and are suitable for a range of ages and abilities and offer different outcomes depending on the user’s needs and circumstances.

Pétanque court in Edgmond village?
The Parish Council are exploring the idea of building a pétanque court in the village, adjacent to the rear of the Shrewsbury Road recreation ground pavilion.
The idea is to provide another form of recreational activity that people can enjoy without being too energetic!
This survey will close on 31st January 2026.
We would appreciate your feedback on this recreational concept which will help to guide the council’s decision.

Are you aware – Edgmond Parish and Chetwynd Parish may merge!
Phase 2 Public Consultation has started in respect of the Borough of Telford and Wrekin Community Governance Review.
Consultation summary to date;
The Council’s Boundary Review Committee met on Thursday 13 February 2025 to determine the first stage of consultation on the Community Governance Review.
This initial consultation sought views on existing parish and town council arrangements and this has now closed.
Informed by the first consultation, the Council’s Boundary Review Committee met on Monday 12 May 2025 to consider draft proposed changes to existing town and parish arrangements.
At this meeting, the Committee agreed the draft proposed arrangements for consultation.
Details of these draft proposed changes can be found in the “Information Pack” of the Community Governance Review 2025 - Parishes in the Borough community governance reviews - Telford & Wrekin Council.
https://www.telford.gov.uk/info/20107/elections/634/parishes_in_the_borough_community_governance_reviews
If you wish to respond to the proposed changes for Edgmond and Chetwynd, the second round of public consultation started today 19 May 2025 and will last until 14 July 2025 and the reason for the post is the below extract taken from page 11 of the information pack.
"CHETWYND AND EDGMOND
The creation of a single parish council for Edgmond and Chetwynd is proposed which would have an electorate of 1,562, with 12 councillors across two proposed parish wards
(a reduction of 10 councillors from the existing arrangements).
One ward would represent Edgmond (8 seats) and the other Chetwynd (4 seats).
Parish name Polling district Seats Electors Electors/ seat Variance
Edgmond WED 8 1084 135.5 4%
Chetwynd WEG 4 478 119.5 -8%
Total 12 1562 130.2
Adopting this proposal would allow for more equal representation across the area whilst maintaining the rural identity of the parishes. It would also see the Summerhill area being incorporated into the new parish area. Whilst no representations were received which proposed merging Chetwynd with Edgmond, it should be noted that there were representations which set out views that Chetwynd should merge with other parishes and so the principle of merger is one that has some support, although not from the Parish Council itself."
In response to the first consultation, Edgmond Parish Council’s submission in summary said, “ No changes recommended for the parish, however to improve social cohesion we would like to suggest the absorption of the few houses at Summerhill, to save those residents having to vote in Sambrook.”
How to make a representation in respect of the proposals affecting both Edgmond and Chetwynd, you can do the following:
• Online survey - complete the online survey.
• Email - your name, address, and submission to [email protected].
• Write - if you wish to submit a written representation regarding this review, please address it to: Community Governance Review, Electoral Services, Telford & Wrekin Council, Darby House, Lawn Central, Telford. TF3 4JA.
Thank you for taking the time to read this article and hopefully you will make your views known.
Kind regards for now

Edgmond Annual Parish Meeting
I would like to thank the residents of Edgmond who attended last evening’s Annual Parish Meeting, for their contributions about the parish and the need for improvements around footpaths, road surfaces and their concerns in relation to road safety matters, these are really appreciated and will be progressed.
Equally comments were received in relation to the revised Telford & Wrekin Local Plan which will be used in our Regulation 19 response to Telford & Wrekin Council before the consultation closes on the 5th May 2025.

In the background there are further consultation processes taking place;
The Community Governance Review, which closes on 14th April 2025, where we have proposed the absorption of Summerhill from Chetwynd Parish. This change if approved, will save residents travelling to Sambrook to vote and hopefully create the B5062 the boundary line for Newport Town Council, Chetwynd Parish Council and us, and equally help to make more sense of the boundary at Newport Road junction in terms of parish boundary lines.

Secondly; The proposed Telford & Wrekin Infrastructure Delivery Plan 2020- 2040, which is looking at Water (supply and sewage), Electricity, Gas distribution, Telecommunications and Broadband, Waste - municipal waste facilities, Health and wellbeing - primary care facilities (including GP's) are funded, etc., and Drainage.
If you have any comments to make on these points, please access the consultation document on the below link, as this is the final opportunity to make any comment which the review inspector evaluating the plan will be able to see, but only if you submit them.

Cllr. Allan Wilson
