Row, row, row your boat...never a dull moment in the life of our Grounds Team😅 Clearing out rubbish from the pond at Stangrove Park is just one of the jobs that keeps them busy across our town.

The pond is home to a variety of wildlife, and Last year Stangrove Park was awarded GOLD at the South & South East in Bloom Awards 🦆🐸🌿🏆

Please help us keep your park a place we can all enjoy and be proud of by putting any rubbish in the bins provided or taking it home with you.

Last Friday Eden Twinning hosted a wonderful reception dinner at Rickards Hall to welcome guests from our French twin town - Ville de Mont-Saint-Aignan. Although the original Twinning Association is no longer under the auspice of the Town Council, the friendship between our communities remains strong thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Eden Twinning group.

Guests enjoyed a delicious meal, including dessert from Edenbridge Market trader TonTon Gilles, and were welcomed on behalf of Edenbridge Town Council by Vice-Chairman Cllr Jon Aldridge, who reflected on the long-standing links and friendships between our two towns.

Thank you to everyone involved in making the evening such a success and helping to keep this special relationship thriving.

We've recently written to Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) urging them to reconsider the new parking charges on Station Approach (Edenbridge Town Station) and reinstate free parking on evenings and weekends.

We are concerned that GTV’s decision to apply a blanket “network-wide” parking approach fails to recognise the distinct local circumstances in Edenbridge. The parking bays are widely used by residents, station users, and visitors to the WI Community Hall, including elderly residents attending evening events. Alternative parking locations are less convenient and can feel unsafe during late evening hours.

The Council is also concerned that the reliance on app-based payment methods may unintentionally discourage use of the area by some residents, particularly older users of the WI Hall and community groups.

Extensive discussions and lobbying were undertaken between 2017 and 2019 involving Edenbridge Town Council, local residents, and Tom Tugendhat MP, which ultimately resulted in the removal of weekend parking charges and recognition by GTR of the unique local circumstances at this location. We hope GTR will listen again and work with us to find a fair solution.

A new streetlight has now been installed on Church Street close to the cemetery gates.

The modern LED lighting column was made possible through CIL funding. Over the years, we’ve received feedback from residents about poor lighting in this area, so we hope this improvement will help make the area feel safer and more accessible for everyone.

It's a bumper market this week with around 15 stalls to browse. Chris's Haberdashery is among the stalls here this week - she's been a regular trader over the years and we know she's very popular, so don't miss her.

This weekend the Long Distance Walkers Association has organised a 100 mile walk to mark the 100th anniversary of the publication of Winnie the Pooh 🥾🧸🍯 🎉

Walkers are expected to come through Edenbridge from 3am to 6pm on Sunday 24 May, so you may notice some head torches bobbing in the dark. Walkers know to be quiet around houses, particularly at night, to not disturb residents. The football clubhouse at Nomads has been hired to provide refreshments and rest so you may see some activity there at unusual hours.
