Join us for Refugee Week 2026
📅 15 - 21 June 2026

Refugee week is the world's largest arts and culture festival celebrating the creativity, contributions and resilience of refugees. This year's theme is Courage.

Courage isn't always loud or bold. It can be found in simple acts: opening your door to a neighbour, trying new food, reading a book or watching a film that changes your view of the world.

It can be speaking up, asking for help, sharing your story - or simply the courage to be yourself.

Thank you to everyone who came to book club this week! 📖✨

Last month's book was The Serial Killer's Wife by Alice Hunter; the story obviously focused on the perspective of the wife which provided an interesting angle to the thriller, we all enjoyed it although we felt it the twist was a little predictable at the end. We gave it 3/5 ⭐⭐⭐

Next month we have chosen to read something a little lighter, we have a choice of two: The Time Hop Coffee Shop and The Year of What If both by Phaedra Patrick. 📖🔖

It was so great to catch up with our Library Leaders before half term to chat about creating a logo, designing youth zones for our libraries and writing reviews of our favourite books! 📚

The Library Leaders are a group of young people aged 11+ who help to create fun, youth-friendly spaces in our local libraries. The group meets weekly to share ideas and also collaborate with BG Arts and Blaenau Gwent Youth Service.
