LOST PROPERTY- WEEKLY REMINDER

As you may be aware, we now have limited space in our pastoral rooms. Therefore, at the end of each week, we will share a Lost Property post featuring items that have been handed in.

We kindly ask parents and carers to encourage their child to check the Lost Property post and, if they recognise any of their belongings, to visit their Pastoral Team on their campus to collect them.

Please note that items which are not collected during the following week will be disposed of to help us manage the limited storage space available.

We would appreciate your support in reminding students to take responsibility for their belongings and to collect any lost items promptly.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

📚 LIBRARY LESSON 📚

One of the wonderful things about our library lessons is that students get to spend the whole lesson in the library, giving them the opportunity to develop their literacy skills while also enjoying some valuable, quiet reading time.

Today, our Year 9 students completed their Sparx Reader test before moving on to some focused literacy work. Once their tasks were complete, they were able to choose a book of their choice and settle down to read.

Miss Eveleigh’s class were beautifully behaved throughout the lesson. It was lovely to see students so settled and engaged, taking the opportunity to enjoy a calm and peaceful moment with a book at the end of a busy Friday afternoon.

There really is something special about seeing a room full of students quietly immersed in their own books.

Well done, Year 9, what a lovely way to finish the week!

🌍 GEOGRAPHY FIELD TRIP 🌍

Over the last two days, our Geography students have been out in the field putting their classroom learning into practice!

As part of their fieldwork, students completed a groyne drop investigation, collecting data to assess how effective groynes are at reducing and interrupting longshore drift along the coastline. This provided students with valuable first-hand experience of coastal processes and the methods used by geographers to investigate them.

Students also carried out an Environmental Quality Survey (EQS) within the town centre, assessing a range of factors to investigate the quality of the urban environment. They worked collaboratively to collect, record and analyse data, developing the practical skills they will need for their Paper 3 Geography examination.

The fieldwork has been a fantastic opportunity for students to apply geographical theory to real-world environments while developing their confidence in collecting and evaluating primary data.

Miss Carter-Doyle said:
“The students have been fantastic, getting involved with collecting our data and representing the school so well. It has been brilliant to see them applying their geographical knowledge in the field and working together throughout the trip.”

Well done to all of our students for their enthusiasm, hard work and excellent behaviour throughout the two days!

YEAR 7 - PE

Our Year 7 have been exploring the importance of effective communication and the many different ways we communicate with others.

Through practical activities and discussion, students have been learning about verbal and non-verbal communication, including how tone of voice, body language, facial expressions and gestures can all help us to share information and understand one another.

Our students have also considered how communication plays an important role in sport and everyday life. Whether working as part of a team, giving instructions, listening to others, encouraging a teammate or resolving a disagreement, clear and positive communication is an essential life skill.

It has been fantastic to see our Year 7 pupils developing their confidence, teamwork and ability to communicate effectively!
