🚴🏻‍♀️🚶🏻‍➡️⚽Have your say on sport and active lifestyles

We are in the process of developing a new Sports and Active Lifestyles Strategy and welcome views from members of the public, agencies, businesses and community organisations on how important physical activity is to you and what opportunities there are to increase participation in sport and physical activity in the Borough.

⚽Domestic abuse support is available over the tournament

During major sporting events like the men’s FIFA World Cup, emotions can run high and, for some, alcohol use and heightened tensions can increase the risk of domestic abuse.

Domestic abuse can escalate during high-profile matches. Research and local data consistently show that incidents of domestic abuse rise around major men’s football events, with reports increasing by around 25% following matches - regardless of whether the team wins, loses or draws.

💭Idling engines and driving habits both affect the air around us. Turning off your engine when waiting and driving more smoothly can reduce pollution, fuel use and unnecessary emissions.

Clean Air Day (18 June) is a great reminder that small changes behind the wheel can become everyday habits that improve air quality all year round.

Top tips:
🚗Switch off your engine when parked or waiting, where it is safe
🏫Avoid idling near buildings, schools and busy areas
🗓️Drive smoothly and plan ahead to reduce short trips

🎨 From workshop sketches to vibrant town centre murals

Residents from Alston House Care Home recently visited the new murals in Eastleigh town centre after helping inspire their creation alongside students from Barton Peveril Sixth Form College.

Painted by Southampton-based artist Nathan Evans Illustration, the murals can now be seen on the Mitchell Road Multi Storey Car Park wall opposite Regal Walk, and along the 'Costa Corridor’ wall (off Market Street).

The project brought together local history, creativity and community voices to help shape artwork that celebrates Eastleigh’s heritage and identity.

This work was funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and developer contributions for public art.
