RSPB Medmerry, Chichester, PO20 7NX
Great for a nice walk and some birdwatching
Small chargeable car park, top path is footpath and lower one is bridlepath for bikes and horses. We saw some yellowhammers, egrets, wrens, swans, coots and could hear a skylark. Would recommend binoculars for this one.

Every year as it warms up I share a water safety post in memory of two lads who lost their lives in the water in cornwall back when I was a teen myself. Heartbreaking to hear of recent deaths in open water. Every time we go to the beach before we go in water I point out three things:

1) Lifeguard station or sign- these often have a What3words location- if you don't already have the app it's free and really helps pinpoint your location
2) A meeting point if anyone gets lost- eg ice cream shop, deck chair rental, landmark
3) Flags- where they are and what they mean

We also stop and look for rip currents, sandbars, tide lines, windsocks. The below slides are concise but so important to share with your teens. Please stay safe and enjoy the water this season.

Had a great family day out here recently, has two enclosed play areas, one for under fives and an older kids area, bird hides overlooking large lake, cafΓ© with indoor and outdoor seating and picnic tables, shop, toilets and car park. You can buy bird food from shop (no bread allowed). Their cafΓ© tables are lovely as have little facts about creatures and area and small table for kids to do brass rubbings on.

Access wise- good paths and a tramper available to hire but some tree roots and inclines on route we took. Area around cafΓ© nice and flat with a lift to bird hide upstairs.
Lots of birds to see on the lake.
