Lamppost Panel finally installed in Gildredge Park 🌳💡

Good to see a new panel fitted to the lamppost in Gildredge Park after Cllr Nevill and Ballard lobby East Sussex County Council.

It’s a small but important fix that helps keep our park infrastructure in good working order and well maintained for everyone who uses it. 💛

We’ll keep pushing to make sure our public spaces are properly looked after and any issues are addressed quickly. 🐝

New Play Equipment in Gildredge Park 🛝🌳

You may have noticed new playing apparatus in Gildredge Park - a great improvement for local families and children to enjoy.

These sort of replacements are carried out each year by the EBC Neighbourhood First team.

Cllr Tom Nevill is calling on East Sussex County Council to remove tree stumps that are restricting access and impeding mobility on local paths.

Pavement and path safety is a top priority - no resident should have to risk injury because of obstructed walkways. 🛑🚶‍♂️

Cllr Nevill will continue pressing the Conservative administration at East Sussex County Council for swift action to make sure these hazards are cleared and that footpaths across Upperton are safe and accessible for everyone. 💛🐝

Street Cabinets Refreshed on Southfields Road

Good news for Southfields Road, the street cabinets have been repainted by Openreach, helping to smarten up the area and improve the look of the street scene.

Cllr Nevill said: “It’s great to see these small but important improvements, making our neighbourhoods look cleaner and better cared for.”

“If you spot other street furniture that needs attention, please do let us know - keeping Upperton looking its best matters.”

Calling for Action on Dangerous Tree Stumps Across Upperton 🌳

Even on Boxing Day, issues affecting residents’ safety can’t be ignored.

Cllr Kathy Ballard and Cllr Tom Nevill are calling on the Conservative-run East Sussex County Council to urgently remove remaining tree stumps on:
📍 Southfields Road
📍 Arlington Road
📍 Dittons Road
📍 Saffrons Road

These stumps are causing ongoing problems for pedestrians and present a real hazard, particularly for those with mobility needs.

🚏 On Southfields Road, the situation is especially serious. The bus stop there is not DDA compliant, and the surrounding pavement should be treated as unsafe until proper remedial work is carried out. No one should be expected to wait for or access a bus in unsafe conditions.

Cllr Ballard and Cllr Nevill will continue pressing East Sussex County Council to take responsibility and act quickly to make pavements safe and accessible for everyone.

Safe streets and accessible pavements shouldn’t be optional - they’re essential. 💛

Potholes Galore. Upperton deserves fully resurfaced roads.

Good news for Upperton residents — potholes at the Hartfield Road junction and Selwyn Road junction have now been filled, improving safety for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians alike. 🚗🚲🚶‍♀️

Cllr Nevill Said : “ These fixes come after concerns were raised and followed up, helping make our local roads safer and more reliable for everyone who uses them.

I’ll continue to push for better maintenance and quicker action from East Sussex County Council where our roads have been left to deteriorate. The conservatives must sort out this mess. “
