💰 We’re launching a new film helping care leavers take charge of their finances 💰

East Sussex County Council is proud to launch a new animated film designed to provide care leavers with vital financial information and support. The short film offers practical tips on managing money, checking eligibility for financial support, and making the most of what’s available through the East Sussex Local Offer.

Leaving care is a major life transition – and managing money can feel overwhelming. This new resource, co-produced with young people aims to make things a little easier.

From support for further education and jobs, to using budgeting tools, unlocking social tariffs and accessing local grants, the short animation reassures care leavers they don’t have to face financial challenges alone. It also highlights the importance of knowing where to go for support – including their Personal Advisor, the Council’s Local Offer, the Care Leaver Covenant, Become, and MoneyHelper.

The film forms part of a wider package of support from East Sussex County Council to help care leavers thrive. It signposts young people to the East Sussex Local Offer, which includes help with:
• Education and training costs
• Wellbeing and mental health
• Job preparation and apprenticeships
• Household bills and social tariffs
• Access to bursaries and grants
