What an incredible day of rugby, remembrance and community spirit.

Over £12,000 was raised at the 10th anniversary Ben Campbell-Johnston Memorial Rugby Match in support of Jigsaw South East and the Kent Wooden Spoon Foundation.

The day saw Sevenoaks U12s take on the Junior Badgers, captained by Louis, in a closely fought match, while the Badgers secured a win against the Sevenoaks RFC Veterans.

More than the rugby, the event was a powerful tribute that brought people together to remember, celebrate and make a difference for others.

A huge thank you to the Chiddingstone Badgers, and especially Kate and Louis, whose dedication, hard work and generosity made this fantastic community event possible.

From everyone at Jigsaw South East, thank you for helping us continue to support bereaved children and young people across our community. 🤍

A huge thank you to the Sussex Community Foundation and the Price Family Fund for their generous £5,000 grant to Jigsaw South East .

This funding will help us continue supporting bereaved children and young people across our community, ensuring they have a safe space to explore their grief, express their emotions, and feel understood.

Hannah Clay, Head of Grant Programmes at Sussex Community Foundation, said:
"We’re delighted to support Jigsaw South East through our Price Family Fund for their vital work supporting bereaved children, young people and families. Their work helping schools develop bereavement policies is also incredibly valuable in supporting children through difficult times.”

We are incredibly grateful for your continued support and belief in the importance of helping children and families facing bereavement. Thank you for helping us ensure no child has to navigate grief alone.

Wishing the very best of luck to Katherine Ainslie and her wonderful team of family and friends, who are taking on the Weybridge Run this weekend in memory of her husband, Nils.

We are deeply touched that Katherine has chosen to support Jigsaw South East through this challenge, and so grateful for her incredible fundraising efforts to help other children and families facing and coping with bereavement.

Katherine, whose family received support from Jigsaw, shared:

“Jigsaw were there at every stage, with a support worker who I could speak to at any time, providing advice and reassurance and helping me to support the kids through this incredibly difficult and lonely time.”

We’ll be cheering you all on every step of the way ✨

As part of Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re sharing simple activities to help children and young people facing and coping with bereavement explore their emotions and connect with the world around them 🤍

🌿 Today’s activity: A mindful photo nature walk

Go for a walk outside and notice what ‘speaks to you’. It might be a tree, flowing water, flowers, clouds, or an animal you spot along the way.

Take photos of the things that catch your attention. Then, when you get home, spend a moment reflecting:

📷 How did you feel when you took the photo?
📷 Do those feelings still feel the same now?
📷 Have your emotions shifted or changed?

Activities like this can gently encourage emotional awareness, reflection, and moments of calm - especially during difficult times.

Sometimes nature helps us notice feelings we didn’t yet have words for 🌿

“Lottie openly shares her experience of losing her mum and later her sister at a young age, and so much of what she wrote felt familiar and real.”

Young Ambassador Mentor & Trustee Associate, Hannah, shares her thoughts on Lucky Girl by Lottie Tomlinson - a deeply honest book exploring grief, resilience, hope, and learning to navigate grief in your own way.

If you’re looking for a read that gently reflects the realities of grief while also offering moments of comfort and hope, this could be the perfect book for you.

Recommended for older teens and young adults.
