East Cowes Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service

Last night we got to bring the pump back home for the East Cowes carnival, and what a great time we had! An exellent job from all the organisers of the event and a big thank you to everyone who came out to show their support.

Just before the parade kicked off we were available to respond promptly to a shout in East Cowes and assist ambulance crew.

Great to see everyone. Can’t wait to be back in East Cowes soon!

🚨 Test it Tuesday! 🚨

From everyone here at East Cowes Fire Station, here’s your friendly reminder – have you tested your smoke alarms today?

Smoke alarms save lives. But only if they’re working. A simple press of the button once a week is all it takes to make sure they’ll do their job when it matters most.

🔥 Did you know? You’re 4 times more likely to die in a house fire if there’s no working smoke alarm.

So why not take a moment right now – head over to your smoke alarms and press the test button. It only takes a second, but it could save your life.

✅ Working alarm? Great!
❌ Not working? Replace the batteries or the alarm itself if it’s over 10 years old.

Let’s all stay safe – one test at a time.

D-Day – June 6, 1944
Today, we remember the extraordinary bravery of those who stormed the beaches of Normandy to fight for freedom. Thousands of Allied troops risked—and many gave—their lives in a mission that changed the course of history.

We honour their courage, their sacrifice, and their legacy.
Let us not forget that the peace and liberty we enjoy today were paid for by their unwavering resolve.

Today we mark 81 years since the D-Day landings, remembering the service and sacrifice of all those involved in turning the tide in the Second World War.

D-Day was the largest seaborne invasion in history, marking the beginning of the liberation of France and Western Europe. A truly international effort, it saw British troops fighting alongside the United States, Canada, Australia, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, France, Greece, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, and Poland.

Join us as we remember the service and sacrifice of all those involved in turning the tide in the Second World War.

Today we remember VE Day – Victory in Europe.

On this day in 1945, the war in Europe came to an end and millions across Britain took to the streets in celebration.

We honour the bravery, sacrifice and resilience of all those who served at home and abroad.

Let’s never forget the generation who gave us our freedom.

We will remember them.
