Last week we said goodbye to a fantastic summer holiday and hello to the first week back at school! And for some of our little ones, it was their very first day at school ❤❤
A huge well done for taking those big first steps, we are so proud of all of you!

❓What Professionals will I work with?❓

When you become a Foster carer you will work as part of a team of professionals to support the child/ren in your care. You will have professionals visiting your home on a semi-regular basis. These include your social worker who will visit monthly for your supervision and the child’s social worker, who will visit six-weekly. You will also work alongside the EFS team as well as needing to meet and communicate with staff at the child’s school, LAC nurses and other healthcare professionals including any therapeutic care the child may be receiving.

🚒 Urban Search and Rescue Open Day 🚒

Our Foster Carer Tim would like to invite you all to the next Urban Search and rescue open day on Sunday 20th September ❤
There will be lots going on for the whole family to enjoy including demonstrations of the team in action, workshops, activities and a display of Fire Engines and rescue vehicles 👨🏻‍🚒🚒
Some of the EFS team will also be about for anyone that is interested in learning more about Fostering ❤

❓What challenges can I expect?❓

We won’t lie to you. There will be challenges. Those children from chaotic backgrounds will have trouble coming to terms with their new situation and may have “learned strategies” for coping with their problems. These can often seem baffling, inappropriate and self-defeating. The child or young person may see you as the immediate solution to their problems but it’s just as likely they’ll make you work for their trust. At the same time, you’ll be helping the child to develop new behaviours and responses to problems.

With the right motivation, support and training, the challenges you may face are a mountain you CAN climb. We’ll be with you every step of the way. And we can promise you the rewards that come with bringing a positive change to a troubled young life are unique and well worth it!

Introducing EFS' Artist of the month ❤❤

We welcome all our talented children and carers to submit their artwork to the team, with an Artist of the Month recognised at the end of each month. It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate creativity, encourage self-expression, build confidence, and recognise the unique talents of everyone who takes part.

⭐Every entry will receive a £10 Amazon voucher so they can stock up on their art supplies, or treat themselves to a little gift.
⭐The Artist of the Month will receive a £25 Amazon voucher, a featured post on our socials and a spot on our Artist of the Month wall of fame.

❓Would I be paid to foster a child?❓

Yes, but we would like to add that this is an allowance to allow you to support the child you are looking after and provide for all their needs. EFS will pay you a minimum of £450 per week for each child you are Fostering. The exact payment you will receive is directly affected by the needs of the child and by the payment structure of the Local Authority who is responsible for that child. Carers looking after children who require more intense or tailored care and who have very complex behavioural or physical needs would expect a higher allowance.
