NEW DOG-WALKING MAP LAUNCHES AS PAWS FOR THOUGHT EVENT RETURNS

Dog owners across the district are being encouraged to make the most of the outdoors this summer with the launch of an updated dog-walking map.

Available on the Folkestone & Hythe District Council website, the map brings together key information on dog friendly places. It also details where seasonal restrictions are in place between 1 May and 30 September.

As a dog friendly district, the council has again teamed up with Folkestone RSPCA to run a free Paws for Thought community day in Radnor Park, Folkestone, on Sunday 7 June (10am–3pm).

It will include stalls, a boot sale, an agility course and a dog show.

Council officers from environmental enforcement and community safety will also be there to offer advice and support to pet owners.

Councillor Mike Blakemore, Folkestone & Hythe District Council Cabinet Member for Community and Collaboration, said: “Our improved dog‑walking map helps residents and visitors enjoy the district when they are walking their pets. It has clear guidance on seasonal restrictions.

“While some seasonal restrictions are necessary, there are still plenty of fantastic places including coastal and countryside locations where dogs can enjoy the fresh air and feel the sand under their paws.

“As a dog owner myself I am very much looking forward to our second Paws for Thought event bringing the local community together to enjoy the activities and highlighting the support available for dog owners.”

The boot sale as part of the Paws for Thought day is being organised by Folkestone RSPCA, with pitches available to pre‑book by emailing [email protected]. Pitches cost £10 per car and £15 per van.

Local dog friendly businesses that would like a stall can email [email protected] for details.
