People want more officers on their streets, not costly police force mergers.

Durham is still 120 officers short of 2010 levels, while Cleveland is around 200 short. If billions can be found for restructuring, Government should first fund frontline policing, restore officer numbers and fix the unfair funding formula.

Commissioner Allens message to Government is simple: Spend taxpayers’ money strengthening the frontline, not on a costly bureaucratic restructure that the public neither asked for, voted for, nor was promised in any manifesto.

The surgeries will help shape future services, investment and support for victims, while ensuring local concerns continue to influence policing and community safety priorities.

County Durham and Darlington Police and Crime Commissioner Joy Allen has welcomed the Government's call for videos depicting dangerous driving to be removed from social media platforms.

As a passionate road safety campaigner, Mrs Allen has previously called for the trend to be outlawed and is now renewing that appeal, urging tougher action to prevent dangerous driving content from being shared online.
