Central Bedfordshire SENDIASS

Central Bedfordshire SENDIASS SENDIASS supports children and young people and their parents and carers to understand their rights and empower them to have their views and wishes heard.

We are a small team who provide, FREE impartial and confidential information and advice around SEND, including SEN Support, EHCP’s, Support in meetings, telephone and email support. Our support is voluntary. We do not take over; you remain in the driving seat and in control of your decisions. We are impartial. We do not favour any point of view or have influence over the outcome of any meeting. We

are confidential. We do not speak to anyone else without your permission. Our records are kept separate and only within SENDIASS. You can even contact us anonymously. You do not need a referral to access our services. How we work

We aim to get back to everyone who contacts us within 2-3days. We will first make sure we understand your questions or concerns, then we will try to find the best way for us to support you. We have 4 levels of support:

- Signposting
- Information
- Advice
- Support

We work closely as a team so any SENDIASS officer may respond to you, however, usually one officer will take a lead in the team where ongoing support is offered. We have experienced and trained volunteers who are also able to offer support. Please note the following guidelines:

1. Please do not use this page to share personal or professional information.
2. Any personal criticism of named individuals, inappropriate or abusive language or content will be deleted.
3. Whilst this page is managed and monitored regularly, we would prefer you to contact us via telephone or email.
4. Please feedback to us using the link to our website.

📢 We Need Your Views! 📢

SNAP PCF will be attending the SEND Overview & Scrutiny Sub-Committee next week Tuesday 16th of June at 9am where school attendance and educational provision for children and young people with SEND will be discussed.

We want to make sure parent-carer experiences are represented in the conversation.

💬 We'd be grateful if you could take a moment to answer these 3 questions:

1️⃣ What has been the biggest barrier to your child attending school regularly this year?
• Anxiety or emotional wellbeing
• School not meeting needs
• Waiting for support or assessment
• Physical health needs
• Bullying or feeling unsafe
• Other (please comment below)

2️⃣ If your child has attended school less than full-time, do you feel this was the right arrangement for them?
• Yes, it was helpful
• It was the best available option
• No, they needed more support
• No, they needed a different placement
• Not applicable

3️⃣ If you could change ONE thing to improve your child's education experience, what would it be?

👇 Please share your thoughts in the comments, send us a private message or email [email protected]
