⚠ Potholes – raised with DfI

While out and about in Derraighy, I spotted a few potholes that are getting increasingly worse.

There is heavy traffic on this road, with HGVs and other such vehicles frequently passing through to get to the industrial estate.

I have raised this with the Department for Infrastructure for their attention. It will no doubt take them an eternity to even acknowledge the issue, let alone address it, but hounding them is the only way to get anything done, it seems! 💪

This is an utterly sickening incident.

Henry Nowak, a young white man, died at the hands of police because he was accused of ‘racism’ by his attacker.

Henry could be heard saying “I can’t breathe.” Yet, the police did nothing.

We saw something like this in 2020. Will there be the same outrage across the world over this incident?

Enough is enough.

😎 60,000 steps later and another part of Lisburn is covered!

During the past week, I was out delivering contact cards on behalf of Paul Givan MLA and speaking with residents about local issues and concerns.

It was great to have a number of positive conversations along the way, with several matters already raised for follow-up. Thank you to everyone who took the time to stop and chat.

Great to join in with others at the community litter pick this morning in Milltown Estate, organised by the Derriaghy Village Community Association - DVCA!

It was lovely to see the community coming together for this. Thankfully the weather held out for us!😂

While out and about, I spotted these two neglected electrical boxes that were sitting wide open.

Judging from past pictures on Google Maps, the one at Hornbeam Road seems to be a persistent problem, with cellotape looking like it has been solution on Queensway.

I’ll be reaching out to the relevant authorities to see that these are closed property and are made safe for the future.

Two seemingly small issues, but ones that could have serious consequences if someone, such as a child, came along and tampered with them.

(Before you ask, yes, I did try and close them myself!)

𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗨𝗨𝗣 𝗥𝗲𝗽 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗻 𝗙𝗲𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝘆

A former UUP councillor, Linzi McLaren, sitting on a panel last night at a Sinn Féin-hosted event titled “Another Ireland is Possible”, right in front of a Sinn Féin banner.

From Unionist councillor to platforming with those who want to dismantle Northern Ireland as part of the UK.

Whatever happened to principles? Unionism needs to wake up and stand firm. This kind of thing only emboldens those pushing for Irish unity.

We need strong leadership that defends our British identity, not former representatives lending credibility to republican events.
