Labour passed their Budget at Fife council today.

A budget voted for by Tories, Lib Dem’s and the new coalition members from the right wing Reform UK….

When the Lib Dem budget failed on the first vote, which SNP won the Lib Dem councillors were happy to be a part of enabling Reform in Fife.

Voting SNP is the ONLY way to keep reform out of Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿.

In Scotland, families get more support because the Scottish National Party chose to introduce the Scottish Child Payment — because we believe no child should grow up in poverty. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

More than 24,000 children across Fife are being supported by the Scottish Child Payment.

It’s thanks to SNP policies like this that Scotland has the lowest levels of child poverty in the UK.

We plan to go even further, with an increase to £40 per week for children under the age of 1.

Well done Zoe Hisbent for Glenrothes West & Kinglassie 👏👏👏 a clear message from the people of Glenrothes, Councillor walker demands better for Fife.

Delighted with Zoe Hisbent for Glenrothes West & Kinglassie resounding SNP win in the by-election last night. I'm delighted for her, her campaign team and the SNP activists who worked so hard, often in very difficult weather conditions during the campaign.

In my post on Wednesday (below) I asked voters in the ward to send a clear message that they no longer have faith in Labour running Fife Council with only 18 councillors. No faith in the Tories and Liberal Democrats who are keeping them in power with their votes and no faith in Reform UK and their empty protest politics. The voters of Glenrothes West and Kinglassie have now sent a message loud and clear.

The SNP have now comprehensively won three council by-elections in Fife in the last 10 months, It is clear, as it was in 2022, that the people of Fife want the SNP to be the party that runs Fife Council.

Labour cannot continue to run away and ignore the verdict of the public any longer.

The parties that prop Labour up cannot ignore the verdict of the people any longer and we must not allow Reform UK to hold the balance of power as they now do in Fife House.

David Ross and Fife Labour must acknowledge that their support from the public across the Kingdom is at an all time low. They are no longer trusted, they are not the democratic voice of Fife Council, and they have no moral or electoral authority to continue in administration.

They should now do the honourable thing - step aside and allow the SNP, who have a democratic mandate, to form an adminstration which will put the interests of Fifers first.

Let’s be clear , your Labour MP did not vote to support scrapping the 2 child benefit cap.

Shameful that not a single Scottish Labour MP voted in favour of scrapping the two-child cap at Westminster earlier this week.

The SNP will do everything we can to eradicate child poverty and that is why we will be scrapping the two-child cap in Scotland from March 2026.

Guess that was the “change” they promised.

In a letter to the prime minister, Foxcroft said she understood the need to address "the ever-increasing welfare bill", but that cuts to personal independence payments and universal credit should "not be part of the solution".

The Labour MP says she could not vote for the welfare bill published by the government earlier this week.

📉 Analysis from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation ahead of the Chancellor's spring statement this week shows families will be £1400 worse off by 2030 under the Labour UK Government.

Fife Labour agree WASPI women have been FAILED by their Westminster government

At today's Fife Council meeting, SNP and LibDems both tabled motions to demand that Westminster delivers a fair compensation scheme for women affected, which includes more than 23,000 in Fife alone.

The Labour administration tried various ways to prevent a debate on the plight of the WASPI women, who have lost 6 years of State Pension entitlement as a result of changes to the pension age made originally by the Tories. A longstanding promise to provide compensation was denied last week following a U-turn by Keir Starmer's Labour government.

Provost Jim Leishman used his discretion as chair to ensure that there could be a debate, and the voices of councillors heard on the matter. And the matter was eventually agreed unanimously.

Several of the Labour group made plain their opposition to Keir Starmer's decision to deny any compensation to the WASPI women, with one of their front bench team declaring that Labour at Westminster had 'failed the WASPI women'.

Further evidence that even Labour can't get Westminster to listen to Scotland.

So last week I posted about the PROMISED CHANGE of cutting funding to our communities …..
And here is More CHANGE….. to our most vulnerable

Now just imagine a special team set up to cut disabled people’s benefits, you couldn’t make it up.

Dunfermline’s elected representatives have become embroiled in a war of words after the city’s MP publicly backed benefit cuts.

Even the international community are now adding pressure to a shameful policy that affects so many families.
