We were thrilled to welcome First Minister Michelle O'Neill and local MP Chris Hazzard to a misty Millstone Mountain last week to showcase the exciting work happening across the Mournes.

It was a fantastic chance to share how the Forever Mournes partners are working together to care for the Mournes, enhance visitor experiences, support local communities, and protect this iconic landscape for future generations.

🐾🌼 Give Skylarks the space they need to sing.

Skylarks nest directly on the ground in the Mournes, hiding their eggs in shallow scrapes among grass and heather. These fragile nests are incredibly easy to disturb - often without even realising.
Keeping your dog on a lead ensures these vulnerable songbirds can safely raise their chicks during the breeding season.

We’re thrilled to announce £1.1million support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund for the Mourne Gullion Landscape Connections project which allows us to work together across sectors and communities to design a practical, long-term response that supports both nature recovery and local community. A huge thanks to players! ✨ 💚

Thanks also to Daera NI as £300,000 match funding for the development phase is being provided by the Environment Fund.
