Congratulations from everyone at 2 Battalion REME to WO2 Hayburn (RLC) who was selected for promotion to WO1.

In a competitive cohort, he was one of 48 WO2s selected from the RLC for promotion. Thoroughly deserved.

Resourceful Rhino 2022 Winners - 2 Bn REME

The Bn 2IC, Maj Dalrymple, accepted the Resourceful Rhino award on behalf of the team from 2 Bn REME who submitted the winning idea. The award was presented by 1(UK) Division Commander ES/SO1 ES, Lt Col Glenn Soane REME CEng MIET.

The team was led by Lt Barret-Chapman and included; Cpl Komaisavai, Cfn McKenzie and Cfn McGoldrick, and their project covered the assessment and re-design of the Vehicle Mechanic toolbox, the most commonly used toolbox in the REME.

Ex RESOURCEFUL RHINO affords REME units the opportunity to research and present solutions to real-time, relevant Equipment Support issues.

Excellent effort from everyone involved.

25 students from across the Corps have completed their final day of a two week ALDP course in Barry Buddon.

The course, led by Lt McMillan from 7 Coy, trains and tests both Cfn and A/LCpls for their first promotion to LCpl. Consisting of a week of conceptual classroom based lessons and a week of fieldcraft, the students are put through their paces through a comprehensive training package.

Luckily for them, the Scottish weather held throughout the exercise phase. Which ended with a final attack onto multiple enemy positions.

A big congratulations to LCpl Houghton, 7 Bn, who was awarded top student.

Congratulations to LCpl Clark (RLC) who was awarded the Army Hockey Association Cap after representing the Army in Inter Service Competition.

The Cap was presented to LCpl Clark by the Commanding Officer, Lt Col Davis, on behalf of the Chair of the Army Hockey Association.

The Cap is awarded to individuals who have represented the Army in Inter Service Competition and is a one-time award remaining valid for subsequent appearances in Inter Services at all levels.

COMMANDER EQUIPMENT SUPPORT 1ST (UK) DIVISION COMMENDATION

Congratulations to Capt Burke (formally the Bn ASM, now the Welfare Officer) on being awarded a Comd ES 1XX Commendation in recognition of his contributions to his support to the Bn whilst employed as the Bn ASM and particularly his contribution to Innovation and Bn technical output.

Cultural Day

Today, 2 Close Support Battalion REME hosted a Cultural Day to showcase and promote the cultural heritage of soldiers within our Battalion.

Stands were operated by soldiers and their families whose heritage originates from Nepal, Fiji, Scotland, Ghana, Belize, Malawi, England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

REME Engineering Awards 2022

Thanks to the relentless hard work, drive, teamwork and excellent engineering skill of our soldiers and officers, 2 Close Support Battalion REME was awarded The winner of the Worshipful Company of Turners trophy for the best REME Battalion; a great achievement on conclusion of a busy 12-month period for the Battalion.

The Commanding Officer, Lt Col Davis, collected the award on behalf of everyone at the Battalion at the REME Engineering Awards.

PERSISTENT ENGAGEMENT 1/22 in the Land Regional Hub (Kenya)

Elements of 7 CS Coy have deployed to the LRH(K) to train and exercise as part of the combined CSS Coy in support of PE 1/22 and Ex ASKARI STORM with the 1 PWRR Battlegroup.

The CSS Coy is made up of trades from all across the CSS function including medics, suppliers, drivers, mechanics, technicians, ammo techs.

The Coy has been keeping itself busy with area recces, planning, and the overhaul of a tired vehicle exercise fleet.

Over the next few weeks the CSS Coy will be branching out onto the wildlife filled training areas to conduct low level training as the form into a CSS Coy ready for validation in March 22.
