We are proud to be partnering with industry and the NHS to drive economic growth in Scotland.

Universities Scotland have shared this story from us highlighting three examples from Life Sciences:
- the Division of Signal Transduction Therapy (DSTT) is one of the world's largest and longest running collaborations between the pharmaceutical industry and an academic research institute and has been operational for over 20 years
- the Drug Discovery Unit, University of Dundee collaborates with industry partners to translate world-class biological research into novel drug targets and candidate drugs for diseases of unmet medical need (i.e. diseases for which treatments either do not exist or are ineffective)
- the Centre for Targeted Protein Degradation (CeTPD), which opened in 2022, supports collaboration with leading pharmaceutical companies to tackle cancer and other conditions by targeting disease-causing proteins for degradation

Proud to be a Universal Partner 💙

Huge congratulations to our colleagues in the School of Life Sciences on their fantastic success at the 2026 DUSA Student-Led Teaching Awards 🎉

We took home top honours in three categories, with others shortlisted across a range of categories. These awards are especially meaningful because they are driven by student nominations, recognising staff who go above and beyond to support, inspire and empower our community.

Well done to all our winners and nominees.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate Fascination of Plants Day at our free family-friendly Plant Power 2026 event! 🌿🌱

It was wonderful to see so many people exploring hands-on science, nature discovery, arts and crafts, and activities for all ages at the Botanic Garden, University of Dundee.

Visitors enjoyed a fantastic range of science activities delivered by researchers and staff from the University of Dundee, The James Hutton Institute, and the Leverhulme Research Centre for Forensic Science, including:

🪴 Legumes display
🍅 Tomato transplanting and basic horticulture
🧬 DNA extraction
🌱 Plants and pathogens
✈️ Camelina and aviation fuel
🌾 Plant epigenetics
🕵️ Forensic investigations
🎨 Face painting

We were also delighted to be joined by a brilliant range of external organisations, artists, and community groups who helped make the day so special:

🐦 Dr David Martin and Dr David Lampard shared the wonders of local wildlife, including demonstrations from the Botanic Garden bird detector and displays of moths caught overnight.

🌿 Dundee Naturalists’ Society answered visitors’ nature questions and shared their enthusiasm for local biodiversity.

🥕 The MAXwell Centre Community Garden promoted GROW Dundee, the city-wide community garden network, and showcased how they grow food and connect communities through gardening.

🌼 Eco-Dundee shared their work towards making Dundee a chemical pesticide-free city.

🎨 Visual artist and Art and Nature Collective member Anna Rooney presented her exhibition Fabricate in the Green Gallery and led a nature-inspired cyanotype workshop.

Thank you to all our visitors, researchers, volunteers, partners, and contributors for helping create such an engaging and inspiring day celebrating the importance of plants, science, art, and nature in our lives.
