Introducing the first 3 recruits to Dundee’s newly formed SFRS Youth Volunteer Scheme - Lucas, Eliana, and Dylan 🙌🏽

These young people support the Dundee Community Action Team with some of the great work they do engaging with and making a positive impact in our community. 📍

Yesterday, they helped with the premier of a new film shown at Greenfield Academy, depicting the dangers of entering and exploring derelict buildings. The film is based on a true and tragic story, and we hope to be able to share it with you soon. 🎥

The contributions of our youth volunteers are greatly appreciated. 👏🏽

Did you know that incidents like this are really common? 🤔

Any time we are dealing with a bin fire, it means we will be delayed, or completely unavailable, in attending a serious house fire or car crash, meaning another fire engine would have to be sent from further away 🚒

When serious incidents happen, every minute counts ⏱️

Help us to be there when we are needed most by being mindful of what you’re discarding and teaching your friends and family about the impacts of wilful fire-raising.

Yesterday’s charity car wash was a success! 🙌🏽

Our hard-working crews were grafting non-stop for 4 hours washing a constant flow of cars 🚗

Thanks to the support and generosity of our local community, we were able to raise over £1,000 in cash for the Fire Fighters Charity, with more donations paid online (final sum TBC). 💷

This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our community, our dedicated crews, and our team of volunteers, who gave up their own time to help out and had a massive impact on the success of the event 🙏🏽

This included some young people from the Youth Volunteer Scheme who did an incredible job and were a massive help throughout the day! 👏🏽

Well done and thank you to all involved. Your contributions have helped raise a great sum for a very worthwhile cause, supporting members of UK fire services and their families through some difficult times. Thanks also to Winter & Simpson Print for donating promotional materials 🙌🏽

Eid is a time of joy, reflection and togetherness, values that resonate deeply across the fire and rescue family. It holds special meaning for many colleagues, retirees and their loved ones, and we recognise the importance of this celebration within our diverse fire and rescue community.
