The fifth and final day of is here đź’›

Thank you for being part of this special and powerful awareness week. We hope the conversations, reflections, and shared experiences throughout the week have offered moments of insight, connection, and inspiration as we explored the theme of .

As we close the week, today we explore our final sub-theme — an important and sensitive one, but also one that carries a message of hope and healing.

Today, we are reflecting on how to support parents who may be holding experiences of grief, trauma, loss, anxiety, or perinatal illness around the time of their baby’s arrival.

These experiences can understandably make it harder for parents to connect with or fully experience their baby in the early days and weeks. Yet through slow, compassionate, non-judgemental care and relationships, we can gently help bring the baby into view — supporting moments of connection that can become part of a family’s healing journey.

Look out for today:

🎥 Our final “In Conversation” discussion of the week with Dr Anne-Marie Casey, Senior Clinical Psychologist in Neonatology at Children’s Health Ireland, who so thoughtfully shares her rich experience of supporting parents and babies through these deeply emotional experiences.

✨ Reflective prompts and practical takeaways to support thinking about how we can better see the baby within today’s theme.

As comes to a close, we hope the theme of continues beyond this week — in everyday moments of care, observation, connection, and relationship with babies and their families.

Thank you for joining us, sharing your reflections, and helping keep babies at the centre of our conversations!

As part of Baby Communication week (1-5 June 2026) our Neonatal unit has been highlighting this years theme "Seeing The Baby" with a display in the units reception area providing booklets for parents and staff.

The theme this year emphasises the importance of recognising and responding to babies’ behavioural cues, giving babies a voice before they have words and building strong, sensitive and responsive relationships that support lifelong wellbeing.

Day 2 of is here! đź’›

After yesterday’s introduction to the theme of and reflecting on why this matters, throughout the rest of the week we’ll be exploring different barriers and challenges that can affect our ability to truly see babies.

These themes will resonate with both healthcare professionals and parents, offering opportunities for insight, reflection, and practical ideas.

Today, we’re thinking about how task-oriented caregiving can sometimes make it harder to truly see the baby in front of us — to be present in the moment and allow babies to guide us as active participants in their care and communication.

We’ll be reflecting on how slowing down, observing babies, and being open to their contribution can not only guide our care, but also create moments of deep connection and enjoyment.

Look out for today:

🎥 A conversation with Anulika Ifezue on “How We Can Reframe Care from Tasks to Connection” — sharing how this shift has been embedded across Manchester’s Health Visiting Service in truly inspiring ways.

✨ Reflective prompts and practical takeaways exploring how we can better see the baby within today’s theme.

We’d love to hear your reflections and experiences throughout the week — share what you’re doing by tagging and using .
