This street was laid out in the 1860s and the first buildings appeared in 1863. The street was so named as it was on the Craigie Estate, owned by the Guthrie family. The street and the grid layout of this area was originally planned in the 1830s but not built for 3 decades. In 1871 it only went as far as Kemback Street but was later extended to Morgan Street.

Wellfield Works to the north of the street was built in 1866. A cooling pond was at the southern corner with Morgan Street until at least the 1920s.

Have we got a World Cup blog post for you! It's got Dundee, Football, Mexico, Canada & the USA. Plus the first club in Mexico to win the league - which just so happens was started by a Dundonian. Did Dundee give Mexico football? 🤔

A discovery in a school admissions register takes us into the tale of a family in Mexico and how Dundonians helped to introduce football to the country
