Today is the beginning of Baby Loss Awareness Week. Having never been a mother, I cannot begin to imagine the pain of that loss, but to those families I have been with on the day they have had to say goodbye to their tiny one, my heart still goes out to you. 🩷🩵

Baby Loss Awareness Week is an opportunity to bring us together as a community and give anyone touched by pregnancy and baby loss a safe and supportive space to share their experiences and feel that they are not alone.

Lorraine made an impossible time a bit easier to get through. She spent a long time just listening to me and totally understood where I was coming from. And it takes a special kind of Celebrant to understand the importance a musicians friends are and how they are central to the persons life. Musicians that Drew had the privilege to work with over the years are like family. Lorraine understood the importance of those amazing people. Lorraine, you were a steady pair of hands guiding us through the ' maze '. in fact you were amazing it takes a very special person to be able to read the room like you did. Thank you so much fore everything. you made an impossible day so much easier. I will always be so grateful ...thank you xx

A beautiful basketweave casket, made with love by Katy Bremer for her father-in-law. Her work is absolutely stunning but delivering Alf's service alongside such a personal tribute was particularly moving.

My lovely friend Dawn Bartlett has always been open about her intense grief at the loss of her amazing dad. She has taken that and turned it into something positive for her community. There is also a new film called Preloved, which charts that journey and her inspiring story, created with filmmaker Maria Viola Craig. I hope it gets a chance to be seen more widely. ❤️

Grief is very often still seen as taboo.

Just as love is love then loss is loss and losing a best four-legged friend is unbelievably painful. Dottie left our lives on Sunday evening. This would have been much more difficult without a home visit from Anna at Restful Hearts. Her care and compassion was incredibly comforting. And then the next day the same care and compassion at Redford Pet Crematorium.
Knowing just how important goodbyes are, I can't thank both enough for taking such good care of a special little girl. 🐾❤️‍🩹

I've been writing for as long as I can remember. I've won prizes and have managed to make my living through putting words together.
However, there's no doubt in my mind that the eulogies I create with families as a celebrant will be my most important pieces of writing. I feel that everything has led me to this point - telling the life story of your loved one. I look forward to working with you as we create a service that is absolutely right in tone and unique to them.
