Dundee Council Tenant Participation

Dundee Council Tenant Participation We want Tenant Participation to be at the heart of Dundee City Council Neighbourhood Services.

We strongly believe that our tenants should have a real opportunity to influence and shape the services they receive from Dundee City Council. Over the last couple of years we have been aware that in some aspects of tenant participation, we have improvements to make. We have started to review our service with the assistance of our Tenants, service users and colleagues in other local authorities.

Through the Tenant Participation strategy we will put in place actions to make sure that we continue to give good value for money to our tenants by allowing good participation in our decisions.

From 20th April, we are moving over to a new Housing Repairs System, a major step forward in improving how repairs are managed, scheduled and completed across the city by the Housing and Construction Services.

This step forward will mean that in the near future, our Customer Services Team will be able to make appointments for non-emergency repairs to be carried out and offer suitable dates and times to have certain repairs carried out.

As we make this change, we ask for your patience and understanding as the call centre may be busy. For more information, please see:

Gas Servicing - New Appointment Process

We are updating the IT systems used to manage gas servicing appointments. As part of this change, you will no longer receive letters asking you to contact us to arrange an appointment. Instead, an appointment will be scheduled automatically on your behalf, and you will be notified through our standard communication channels.

If you are not at home for the first appointment, we will automatically rearrange it and send you another notification. If we still cannot gain access to complete the service, we will attempt to contact you by other means. This may include phoning you to find a suitable time or visiting your property to arrange a new appointment.

If we are still unable to reach you, we will issue one final appointment date and time. Should access not be secured after a final appointment opportunity, entry may be forced to complete the service, in line with your Tenancy Agreement.

If you have any queries on the above, please contact [email protected]

Dear Residents,

The Local Housing Strategy sets out how our city plans to meet housing needs over the next five years. It focuses on expanding access to good, affordable homes, supporting sustainable neighbourhoods, improving housing standards and energy efficiency, and reducing homelessness.

To shape this work, we’ve drawn on national guidance, local data, and early conversations with partners and community groups. Now we want to hear from residents. Your views will help refine the themes, goals, and actions that guide future housing in Dundee.

We’d love for you to take part in this consultation and share your thoughts. You can read the full policy by copying the following links:

Dear Tenants,

Dundee City Council's Rent & Sheltered Service Charge Consultation is now underway.

Every year Neighbourhood Services looks at the rent and other charges that it needs to collect so that it can continue to deliver the services that you have told us you want.

Following recent consultations, such as How Your Rent is Spent, you have told us that the main priorities are:

Repairs

Improving Energy Efficiency in Council Houses

Helping Tenants Keep Their Tenancies

Building More New Houses

Environmental Improvements

The council strives to provide a continually high standard of service by consulting and engaging with tenants on decisions which directly involve them and, as in previous years, we want to know what you think about 3 proposed rent increases for council houses, and which one you would like to see brought in.

Your opinion matters, so please take time some to Get Involved & Have Your Say on the options available during this year’s consultation, which is now open and will conclude on December 21st, 2025.

Please follow this link to more information and access to the survey:

Lynne Short, depute convener of the neighbourhood regeneration, housing and estate management committee said:

“This is our last contribution to this year's . I hope that as well as enjoying contributions from organisations and individuals across Scotland, you have found out more about your local community and what it can offer in terms of support and connection.

Whether it's discovering new community groups, learning about local services, or simply getting to know the neighbours next door, strong communities are built through these everyday interactions and relationships.

These connections transform neighbourhoods into genuine communities where people look out for each other, creating the networks that support us during challenging times and celebrate with us during good ones.”

Every week Dundee City Council’s Community Learning and Development Service work alongside young people and adults who volunteer their time to:

1. Help plan and deliver CLD youth groups, adult learning classes and family provision and make a positive contribution to life in their communities.
2. Manage community spaces
and
3. Develop provision responsive to community needs and aspirations within those facilities.

To influence and lead as equal local community planning partners.

In the film linked below, we want to celebrate Hallie, Olivia, Lola and Lera, young volunteers that help out each week at the Disc Target Project, a well-attended diversionary project that runs on Thursday and Friday nights in Stobswell.

Every year, 850,000 volunteers in Scotland dedicate their time to making a difference in their communities. Recent research from Volunteer Scotland found tha...

Take Pride in Your City is a community campaign which aims to encourage everybody to take a pride in Dundee by helping to make a difference in our neighbourhoods, parks and open spaces.

Dundee City Council aims to encourage individuals, groups and organisations across Dundee to help in the effort to prevent litter, dog fouling, fly-tipping and discarded chewing gum from blighting the city. The campaign will encourage and support initiatives aiming to improve:

Neighbourhoods, Parks, Sports Pitches, City Centre, Cemeteries, Woodlands, Schools and Broughty Ferry beach

There is a lot of great work being done in Dundee by groups and individuals but there is still more to do. We will highlight the good work already being done and hope to encourage more people to get involved in the campaign.

To make a real difference it needs all of us to get behind the campaign.

Scottish Housing Day

Intergenerational collaboration at Brington Sheltered Lounge Gardens:

Last summer, one of Brington’s Sheltered Housing tenants managed to secure funds for raised flower beds at the Sheltered Housing Lounge Gardens thanks to the help of the Activities Co-ordinator, Fiona Bisset.

Scottish Housing Day is an annual event aimed at raising awareness of the challenges and successes within Scotland's housing sector. It encourages public participation through events, Q&A sessions, and sharing stories on social media. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the event, emphasizing t...
