🐾🐕 The Belhaven Dog Show! 🐩🏵️ (Post 1 of 2)

A huge thank you to our wonderful PTFA, especially Chair Katie Gladstone, for organising such a brilliant afternoon. And thank you to all the amazing parents and staff who ran the wonderful stands and stalls throughout the event.

We were blessed with the most beautiful sunshine and it was such a happy, fun-filled afternoon. A huge thank you to all the Belhaven dogs and their patient owners who took part and to our brilliant judges, and well done to all our winners! 🏵️🐕👏

🚐🎻🎶 Music trip: The Belhaven String Ensemble went to see the Lodestar Trio performing at the Lammermuir Festival. They were wowed by the Swedish nyckelharpa and Norwegian Hardanger fiddle, as well as the violin, viola, cello and double bass, with Nordic folk traditions blending with Baroque and classical music.

They found worms during the interval and enjoyed the sunshine and singing on the way home! ☀️🎶🪱

🏑🏉 First fixtures of the year! The Under 11 boys’ rugby team and the U11A and U11B girls’ hockey teams led the way for our first fixtures of the school year against Strathallan Prep

The boys were victorious and the girls came away with a win and a narrow loss. A huge thank you to for hosting us for brilliantly competitive matches, with tries and goals coming from all directions!

And what a glorious afternoon of Perthshire sunshine - an added joy for our spectating parents!

🤝🥂🎉 OB Reunion! It was so wonderful to welcome back the Form 1 leavers of 2020 six years after leaving Belhaven, and now embarking on their university lives.

To see so many of them is a wonderful testament to the strength of the friendships formed at Belhaven and a perfect reflection of our ethos: “An Education at Belhaven is a Lifelong Companion.”

We were also delighted to welcome back Henry and Susi Knight, their Headmaster and Headmaster’s Wife at the time, who were thrilled to be reunited with the group and catch up on all their news.

As Scotland was in lockdown in the summer of 2020, the leavers never had the chance to have a proper send-off from Belhaven, making last night’s reunion all the more special.

Our current Form 1s were delighted to show the OBs around and did a phenomenal job serving drinks and nibbles and waiting on their tables.

Thank you OBs for returning to see us and to Mrs Reynolds and our Form 1s for being such fabulous hosts!

🎼🎶 Yesterday, led by Miss Lloyd, our Visiting Music Teachers introduced Forms 1–6 to the wonderful range of instruments they can learn at Belhaven.

Mr Murray wowed us with his drumming skills! We watched an awesome video clip of Mr Armstrong playing the guitar in his band and were treated to beautiful live performances from Miss Lloyd on the violin, Miss Evans on the harp and Miss Davis on the cello.

There are also 13 ensembles for the children to join: Pipe Band, Pipers, Chanter Club, String Quartet, String Ensemble, Chamber Choir, School Choir, Rock Band, Senior Drum Corps, Development Drum Corps, Guitar Ensemble, Wind Band and Pre-Prep Choir. All rehearsals take place during morning or lunch breaks (easy to fit into a busy school day).

It was wonderful to see how excited the children were about the prospect of learning an instrument (if they aren’t already!) Please return the form to Mrs Gale if you haven’t yet!
