✨📚 Week 📚✨

This week, we’re celebrating the incredible impact of our Community Outreach Service.

For many of our readers, a visit to the library isn’t always possible—but that doesn’t mean they should miss out on the joy, comfort, and connection that reading brings. Thanks to Community Outreach, books, audiobooks, and a friendly face are delivered right to people’s doors.

Our team truly enjoy getting out into the community, meeting our readers, and building those meaningful connections along the way. We feel privileged to be able to make such a difference in people’s lives, and it means so much to hear just how valued and appreciated this service is.

Because libraries aren’t just about books—they’re about people, connection, and community. 💛📖

🥳It’s gala season once again in Lockerbie and the staff have created a colourful window display with some photographs from past and present. 🥳

🔎See if you can recognise yourself or have fun searching for the hidden object. 🔎

🎶💛Langholm Library had it's first Bookbug session at the end of April with Marley, but it took a while for us to get all the lovely pictures sorted to share with you! 💛 🎶

Children from Langholm Primary School Nursery and Langholm Playcare Nursery attended and had a great time singing, rhyming and enjoying the stories, as well as having a chance to explore the Library and look at the books.
They particularly loved picking puppets from the bag to sing about with Marley.

On their second visit, the kids from Langholm Playcare did a great job remembering the Hello and Goodbye songs, and the Puppets. They sang a very boisterous version of If You're Happy and You Know it - we thought the roof was going to come off when they shouted 'We Are' so they must have been very happy!
Afterwards they stayed again to look at the books, which was lovely.

Thank you so much Langholm Playcare for bringing them along.

Sarah from Stranraer Library attended Glenluce Primary School to carry out a Heritage visit. We focussed on the history of Glenluce and used photos from our collection, Valuation Rolls, School Attendance records and School Logs. We used these to find out information on houses, to look at Glenluce main street from years ago and look up information on Glenluce Academy and it’s pupils.

We had a wonderful time, thank you for having us 😊
