A wee message from one of our LEGO clubs as we celebrate this week.

As well as developing creativity, imagination, and building skills our LEGO clubs encourage the children who take part to:

* Be kind to one another - we share materials, offer help, and praise others builds

* See through others perspectives - we explain what we have built, why, and what it means to us in our show & tell section at the end of the session. We all listen, ask questions, and give positive feedback

* Treat each other, parents, and library staff with respect

Our Lego clubs are free and suitable for children in primary school and upwards. Find out more at: https://www.west-dunbarton.gov.uk/libraries/libraries-for-children-and-babies/lego-clubs

West Dunbartonshire Libraries were delighted to launch a second graphic novel, created as part of the national Our Freedom:Then and Now project, in Alexandria library last week.

Secondary school pupils and members of the public from Dumbarton, Alexandria and the Vale of Leven contributed stories, opinions and art work to the graphic novel which looks at what freedom means to people today. Our Freedom: Then and Now is a national project which funded activities across the UK to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

Huge thanks to Paul Bristow for running the sessions and producing the graphic novel, as well as to pupils and School Library Coordinators at Dumbarton Academy, Our Lady and St Patrick’s High School, and the Vale of Leven Academy.

Reading Challenge for June

It's the National Year of Reading 2026 - It's time to Go All In!

Everyone knows reading expands worlds, sharpens minds, and fuels creativity. But fewer of us are making time for it.

Whatever you're into, read into it. If you have never tried an eAudiobook we would love you to give one a listen this June. We have a great range of eAudiobooks in our BorrowBox collection to suit all interests - so you can explore whatever you're into in greater depth and get even more fun out of your passions and interests.
