An irregular pulse isn’t something to ignore. It could be a sign of a heart condition that increases your risk of stroke or serious heart problems.

✅ The good news? You can take control.

Checking your pulse regularly is quick, easy, and could help spot problems early – when they’re most treatable.

More than 2 million people in the UK are living with an arrhythmia — a heart rhythm disorder that can affect anyone, at any age.

Some people experience palpitations, dizziness, breathlessness, fainting and unexplained loss of consciousness, or fatigue. Others may not realise anything is wrong until a serious event occurs.

This World Heart Rhythm Week, help us raise awareness of the symptoms that should never be ignored.

Parents and carers in the Black Country are being encouraged to check their child’s vaccination record and book any missed doses ✅

📍Catch-up clinics are running locally in Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton, making it easy to get up to date.

Vaccines protect children against serious illnesses and help stop the spread of infection in schools and communities. If you’re unsure what your child needs, the clinic team can advise you when you book.

☀️ Staying safe around water this half-term
With the warm weather here and schools out for half-term, we know it can be really tempting to cool off in rivers, canals, lakes or reservoirs.

We want everyone in Dudley borough to enjoy the sunshine safely – especially our younger residents.

If you’re heading out with family or friends, please keep these simple tips in mind and share them with your children too:

💦 The water might look inviting, but it’s often much colder than you expect – cold water shock can be dangerous
💦 Try not to go alone – being with others can make a big difference in an emergency
💦 If there’s no lifeguard, it’s best to stay out of the water

We’re sharing tips to help you make safe choices so everyone can enjoy the heatwave and get home safely.

❗UPDATE❗
The heat health alert for the West Midlands has now been upgraded to amber. The alert is in place from 2pm today (22 May) until 5pm on Wednesday 27 May.

☀️ Sun’s coming out…and it’s timed it perfectly with the school holidays!
Looks like we’re in for the first proper warm spell of the year.

While we’re enjoying it, let’s all keep an eye out for neighbours, friends or family who might struggle in the heat — especially older people or anyone with health conditions.

A quick check-in, a glass of water, or helping keep their home cool can make a big difference.

The UK Health Security Agency has issued a yellow heat-health alert for the West Midlands from this coming Friday, until the Wednesday of half-term, so it’s a good time to look after ourselves and each other.
