Have you met the DKR Capella yet?

First zooming around our streets in the 1960s, many of the scooter parts, including the body panels, were made locally in Willenhall (by the Willenhall Motor Radiator Company), with the machine itself assembled in workshops at Pendeford Airport, Wolverhampton.

This particular model retailed at £173 13s 10d when new, over £4,500 in todays currency. You can catch the Capella and more amazing automotive marvels at Festival of Vehicles this Saturday & Sunday.

Many volunteered, especially younger women, and from 1942 thousands were conscripted too.

Almost a million British women worked in wartime factories – including many in the Black Country.
