🍸 Today is ! 🍸

Here at the Loch Ness Experience, we’re lucky to have our neighbours at Great Glen Distillery nearby — so for a bit of fun, we asked ChatGPT to create the perfect “Nessie Cocktail”… and honestly, we think Nessie would approve 👀🐉

We reckon it tastes even better served in a Nessie glass too! 💚

✨ The Nessie Cocktail ✨
• 50ml Great Glen Gin
• 20ml elderflower liqueur
• 15ml fresh lime juice
• 60ml cloudy apple juice
• 2 dashes Angostura bitters
• Fresh rosemary & ice

Shake with ice, strain over fresh ice, then garnish with cucumber ribbon, berries, and rosemary for the ultimate Highland-inspired serve 🍏🌿

Tasting notes:
🍃 Crisp Highland botanicals
🌸 Floral sweetness
🍋 Fresh citrus
🌲 Woodland herbal finish

Want to awaken the monster from the deep? Add a float of peated whisky for a smoky twist 🥃

We were honoured to take part in the second Tartan Parade in Edinburgh today.

Thank you Visit Inverness Loch Ness for inviting us to join with our hosts LNER. We proudly walked at the head of the parade alongside Highland colleagues Ellen Fogel Walker and Nicole McIntosh from Visit Inverness Loch Ness, Anna Pelikan from the Scottish Cooking Experience, and Susan Stewart from Prickly Thistle.

The Highlands team came together wearing their Prickly Thistle outfits. Nessie also made several appearances too. Including a dancing version created by the Cheryl Heggie school of Dance!

What a brilliant day celebrating Scottish culture and heritage in the heart of Edinburgh. 💚

On this day in 1933, the Inverness Courier published Aldie Mackay’s account of a “strange spectacle” on Loch Ness 👀

The story came after a conversation between her husband and local water bailiff (and part-time journalist) Alex Campbell—and it’s widely seen as the moment that sparked global fascination with Loch Ness and its mysterious Monster 🌊🐉

It was on this very day back in the afternoon of 14th April 1933 that Aldie Mackay, Manageress of the Drumnadrochit Hotel reported seeing "something strange" in the dark waters of Loch Ness.

To mark this historic moment we wanted to share this special memory of Aldie and Ronnie Bremner founder of the Loch Ness Centre and Exhibition, captured during her visit back in 1990.
