It’s the annual Horticultural Show today at the Craigmonie Centre. Doors open from 9.30 - 12 to receive all your entries. Then doors open to the public at 3 when all the winners will be revealed! Come along to find out who has grown the coolest cucumbers🥒, the most awesome aubergines🍆and the biggest beans🫛. Best gardens, tallest sunflower🌻and wonkiest veg prizes as well including children’s categories! Oh, did I mention tea and cake on offer too - why miss it!!

📣 Volunteer Opportunity
Secretary Wanted for GURCA 🌿

Could you help make a difference in Glen Urquhart?
The Glen Urquhart Rural Community Association (GURCA) is looking for a Volunteer Secretary to join our Board of Trustees and help support the ongoing success of our community.

As Glen Urquhart's community development trust, GURCA works to make our community a better place to live, work and play.
From our beautifully transformed village hall to our community woods, Blairbeg Park and village green, we care for and develop assets that benefit everyone in the Glen.

Activities we co-ordinate include the weekly Bite n Blether lunch, fortnightly litter picks and our 'Let Us Grow' project as well as the children’s Halloween and Christmas parties

Everything we achieve is driven by local people.
With a small staff team and a passionate group of volunteers, we're looking for someone who would like to play a key role in supporting the charity's governance and future success.

What does the role involve?
✅ Organising paperwork and maintaining records
✅ Supporting meeting scheduling and Board administration
✅ Taking and managing meeting notes and correspondence
✅ Handling confidential matters with integrity and discretion
✅ Supporting good charity governance (training and support available)

What we're looking for:
✨ Good organisational skills
✨ Strong written and verbal communication
✨ Attention to detail
✨ A commitment to the community
✨ Knowledge of charity governance is helpful, but not essential

🕒 Time commitment:
Approximately 5 hours per month, including attendance at the monthly Trustee meeting.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the future of Glen Urquhart while becoming part of a friendly and dedicated team.
