Defence spending is central to national security and national resilience, defence is the first priority of any government.

This current Labour government either does not or will not accept this.

By increasing defence spending we are supporting and developing industry, helping to boost the economy, securing and creating jobs and helping fund a future for the next generation.

The Conservative Party recognises this, the public recognises this.

Defence spending isn’t just about military equipment. It is about keeping Britain safe, supporting highly skilled jobs and protecting the industrial base we need to defend ourselves in an increasingly uncertain world.

For Ribble Valley, defence is particularly important.

BAE Systems at Samlesbury is one of the UK’s most important defence and aerospace sites, supporting thousands of highly skilled jobs across Lancashire and a huge supply chain of local businesses.

That means investment in defence is also investment in Lancashire — supporting apprenticeships, engineering, research, manufacturing and well-paid skilled employment for generations to come.

We should be ambitious about maintaining Britain's position as a leading defence and aerospace nation:

🔹 Properly funding our Armed Forces and ensuring they have the equipment they need.

🔹 Backing British defence manufacturing, rather than becoming unnecessarily dependent on overseas suppliers.

🔹 Supporting BAE Systems and the wider Lancashire supply chain, protecting highly skilled jobs in our region.

🔹 Investing in apprenticeships, engineering and STEM education, giving young people opportunities to build careers locally.

🔹 Recognising defence as an economic investment, not simply an expenditure.

Ribble Valley and Lancashire have a proud history of contributing to Britain's defence.

Labour politicians are working out how to tax you more. My team is working out how you can keep more of your own money.

Andrew Griffith MP Claire Coutinho MP and Richard Fuller MP are my new Economic Unit. Their job is to find the responsible tax cuts and reforms that let businesses grow, and make sure you feel it in your wages, weekly shop, bills and the cost of your home.

We will abolish stamp duty on your home, we will end the Family Farm Tax and Family Business Tax. And we will go further, with responsible plans so that families can keep more of what they earn.
