🌍 Dromore High School is proud to celebrate 10 years of partnership with schools in Kenya through African Adventures. 🇰🇪
This milestone also gives us an opportunity to remember former Principal, Mr John Wilkinson, who along with Mr David Wylie and Mrs Joanna Kerr had a vision which established the school’s first trip to Africa in 2012. Their commitment to service, global citizenship and supporting communities overseas laid the foundations for a partnership that continues to make a lasting impact today.
On our recent trip, Sixth Form students and staff spent a week working alongside pupils and teachers at St Trizah Primary School in Nakuru, Kenya. Together, they helped improve classroom facilities by building desks and chairs, delivered lessons, led sports activities, shared resources, and supported a period dignity initiative providing reusable sanitary products which were kindly donated by our local community.
The accompanying video showcases some of the work completed in the school and captures staff and students from St. Trizah Primary School sharing their heartfelt thanks for the support they have received.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our local community for over 10 years, we have also been able to provide water filters, guttering systems, water storage tanks and essential kitchen equipment to our partner schools in Kenya. During our visit, we saw first-hand the positive impact these donations are already having on daily school life.
Over the past decade, this partnership has fostered friendship, cultural understanding and global citizenship, creating lasting memories and meaningful change for everyone involved. We are grateful to everyone who has supported this journey and helped continue the legacy begun by Mr Wilkinson, Mr Wylie and Mrs Kerr.
