I live in Sling Lane - the house with the weathervane. In addition to my neighbour finding a grounded bat at my gate this morning (waiting for an expert to help) a tortoise has now arrived at my gate! I'm sure someone must be missing it. It has one very distinguishing feature so if it's yours please identify it and come and collect. It is safely in a dog carrier with water and shortly some fruit...

A large group of youngsters on the Brum on Monday afternoon thought it was ‘fun’ to destroy a £12,000 piece of inclusive play equipment. Sadly it is too damaged to be repaired. If you know any of the youngsters involved, or have any dashcam or doorbell footage, please let us know in confidence, as we know there were several people in the park between 3-5pm. To those of you visiting the play area we are sorry this is missing and there is unsightly fencing there - a necessity for safety.

The ducks were having a snooze in the pond at Bull Meadow this afternoon - despite the deafening chiff-chaffs and then a pheasant flew in near the tiny forest to check it out. Lovely.
If you’re having lamb this weekend there’s currently plenty of rosemary in the herb trough by Lord Mooverbull so do help yourself to a sprig or two.

Lock up your fish! This otter is venturing around village ponds decimating people’s fish and has no difficulty getting in under nets. It’s even been seen working in tandem with a fox! A beautiful creature but if you value your fish it might be worth taking extra measures - the otter is a more formidable adversary than a heron.

MEN WANTED!
Must have:
* Size 8 feet OR own waders.
* Affinity with mud.
* Warm underwear (advisory but not essential).
* Waterproof gloves.
*GSOH.
North Claines Parish Council is desperate to find a couple of people who would be happy to wade into the shallow pond that was dug in Bull Meadow to remove some of the bullrushes that are finding it exceptionally suitable habitat, to the extent that frogs may not be able to get in to spawn.
If you are a keen fisherman with your own waders (we have one pair of size 8 we could loan) and would be happy to wade in and pull some bullrushes out, please get in touch!
It shouldn't take too long, especially if a few people volunteer.
Wages to include eternal gratitude and coffee/tea and cake if we know when you're coming.
***BULLRUSHES FREE ON APPLICATION after the kind wading volunteers have been - bring your own bag or bucket.
