Official Humberside & South Yorkshire Army Cadet Force For action adventure, fun and friendship, the ACF is hard to beat. For action adventure, fun and friendship, the Army Cadet Force (ACF) is hard to beat.

We provide our young people with the skills they need to become good citizens by developing:

•self-confidence
•communication skills
•leadership and team-building Humberside and South Yorkshire ACF has around 1600 cadets and 230 adult volunteers spread across 52 detachments, from Bridlington in the North East to Sheffield in the South West and Cleethorpes in the East. The ACF welcomes boys and

girls from the age of 12 (and at least in year eight at school), of all abilities and backgrounds, and through a broad range of exciting, challenging, educational and adventurous activities, help young people develop physically, mentally and socially. Some of our activities have a military theme; others have more of a community focus. This combination enables us to offer our young people a unique blend of personal development opportunities all designed to promote fun and friendship while also helping them prepare for success in their chosen path in life.

We’ve got plenty of content to share from an action-packed weekend at Driffield CTC, and first up, we’re introducing our brand-new Cadet Media Representatives! 📸🎥

This weekend, they completed their media training before heading out to capture the activities across camp, providing photography and videography support for the other courses taking place.

From behind the lens to in front of it, here are the faces of the team who’ll be helping tell the stories of our cadets and volunteers throughout the year.

A fantastic start to their new roles. We can’t wait to see what they produce next!

Today some of our Cadets and CFAVs took part in the Cadets into Construction event with KH Plant Training, gaining hands-on experience and learning valuable new skills within the construction industry.

A fantastic opportunity that challenged them, built confidence, and gave an insight into future career pathways. Well done to all involved, and thank you to KH Plant Training for the experience!

A huge group of 130 cadets and 25 adult volunteers attended the Tri-Service Ice Hockey Finals, and what a night it was! The atmosphere was electric from start to finish, with plenty of cheering, chanting, and support from our cadets throughout the games.

Events like these are a fantastic opportunity for our young people to experience elite military sport, build friendships, and create lasting memories outside of normal training activities. Judging by the noise levels, everyone certainly enjoyed themselves!

A massive thank you to all the CFAVs who helped organise and supervise the evening, and to our cadets for representing D Company with enthusiasm and pride.

Safe to say we’ve probably gained a few new ice hockey fans after that! 🏒🥅

🏉 B Company Cadets at the Armed Forces Rugby League 🏉

Recently, our B Company cadets had the honour of attending the Armed Forces Rugby League vs Teachers match, where they proudly formed the Guard of Honour for the teams before kick-off.

The occasion was made even more special when Cadet SSgt Drury was presented with her promotion to Cadet Company Sergeant Major by the Officer Commanding just before the game. This promotion is a huge milestone and reflects her hard work, dedication, leadership, and commitment to the cadet force.

Congratulations to Cadet CSM Drury on this thoroughly deserved achievement.

A fantastic day of rugby, recognition, and cadet excellence.

☀️ C Company definitely picked the right weekend for training… we’re still not convinced Driffield is supposed to be that warm.

Cadets spent the weekend taking part in First Aid, CIS, Skill at Arms, Drill and Senior Cadet Command Tasks, developing teamwork, leadership and communication skills throughout a packed training programme.

After a busy day of training, Captain Fidment stepped up to the barbecue in full chef mode — complete with a DIY chef’s hat — making sure everyone was well fed in the sunshine.

A brilliant weekend of training, teamwork and plenty of water breaks!

☀️ A fantastic weekend of adventure, teamwork and achievement for HSY cadets!

Last weekend, HSY DofE Expeditions took place at Totley Camp, where cadets taking part in their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award training were challenged with expedition routes, navigation and teamwork in very warm conditions.

Cadets enrolled on Bronze DofE successfully completed their qualifying expedition, while Silver participants carried out their practice expedition ahead of their qualifying assessment later this year.

Throughout the weekend, cadets developed practical navigation, teamwork and communication skills while working together across their routes. In addition to their DofE progress, the cadets also achieved their equivalent Army Cadet Syllabus expedition pass, with two cadets now completing their star level progression.

The weekend would not have been possible without the dedication of our CFAV team, who gave up their bank holiday weekend to support and supervise the cadets throughout the exercise. Special thanks go to Lt Alex Johnson-Summers for leading the weekend, alongside all the adult volunteers who ensured the safe and successful delivery of the expedition programme.

There was still time for some fun too, with CFAVs helping cadets stay cool in the sunshine with a few well-timed watergun ambushes along the way!

Well done to everyone involved in another successful HSY DofE weekend.
