In science, year 5 and 6 have been learning about the Galapagos Finches and Charles Darwin’s theory of natural selection. Using tweezers and chop sticks to pick up seeds- demonstrating the finches’ beaks 🏝️

Nursery children have had a very busy day today for our last day before Easter half term! 🐣 We’ve had a classroom Easter egg hunt due to the weather, made some cornflake cakes and we had a decorating an egg competition too with some fabulous designs! Year 3 and 4’s trumpet bags have got very tatty, so in design and technology this week we have been making new ones, using a sewing machine! We used hand sewing to add appliqué decorations and are in the process of using the machine to create nice strong bags for our trumpets. 🎺 🧵🪡
We will show off the finished results tomorrow.

We had a fantastic World Book Day in years 3 and 4. We began the day with a live streamed football/book quiz by the Literacy Trust and the Premier League, followed by book themed games. This afternoon we finished our class story, The Wild Robot which we have been enjoying since September, and then began to design alternative covers for the story. We finished the day with stories read by all the teachers.

We were so impressed with the costume efforts this year, this is the best dressed class for World Book Day Mrs Green has ever taught. Thank you parents for your efforts. We hope those of you who are going on to enjoy more activities with The Sunshine Squad have a great time this evening. 📚🧑‍🏫📖
